포항해양경찰서(서장 이근안)는 지난 17일 관내 주요 연안해역과 위험구역을 대상으로 현장 안전점검을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 점검은 예년보다 이른 무더위로 해수욕장과 해변, 방파제 등 해양 관광지를 찾는 이용객이 증가할 것으로 예상됨에 따라 연안사고 위험 요소를 사전에 확인하고 구조 대응 체계를 강화하기 위해 마련됐다.

이근안 서장은 직접 연안 위험구역과 해수욕장, 해변, 방파제(테트라포드) 등 관광객 이용이 많은 지역을 방문해 안전관리 실태를 살폈다. 점검에서는 ▲위험 안내 및 경고 표지판 관리 상태 ▲인명구조장비 비치 여부 ▲긴급 상황 발생 시 대응 태세 등을 중점적으로 확인했다.

포항해경은 여름 성수기 동안 연안사고 발생 가능성이 높아지는 만큼 위험지역 순찰과 예방 활동을 강화하고, 신속한 구조 대응체계를 유지해 안전사고를 최소화할 방침이다.

이근안 포항해양경찰서장은 “무더위가 일찍 시작되면서 해양 레저와 관광 활동도 예년보다 빨라지고 있다”며 “국민들이 안심하고 바다를 즐길 수 있도록 예방 중심의 안전관리와 현장 대응 태세 유지에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
