【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포스코그룹이 제조업 분야의 인공지능(AI) 활용 확대에 발맞춰 미래 산업을 이끌 청년 인재 육성에 나선다.
포스코그룹은 청년 취업역량 강화 프로그램인 ‘포유드림(POSCO Youth Dream)’의 일환으로 제조 및 스마트팩토리 분야에 특화된 AI 실무 교육 과정을 신설하고, 지난 17일부터 교육생 모집을 시작했다고 밝혔다.
이번 과정은 산업통상자원부와 고용노동부가 추진하는 ‘K-뉴딜 아카데미’ 사업과 연계해 운영된다. 포스코그룹은 올해 총 300명의 청년을 선발해 스마트 제조 환경에 필요한 전문 역량을 갖춘 인재로 육성할 계획이다. 이를 통해 제조 혁신 분야의 실무 경험과 기술 노하우를 지역 청년들과 공유하며 취업 경쟁력 향상도 지원한다.
교육은 제조 현장에서 활용도가 높은 AI 기술을 중심으로 구성됐다. 주요 과정은 ▲온디바이스 AI를 활용한 산업용 소프트웨어 개발 ▲딥러닝 기반 제조 AI 모델 설계 ▲대규모 언어모델(LLM)을 적용한 스마트팩토리 AI 어시스턴트 구축 ▲설비 이상 징후 예측을 위한 AI 데이터 분석 ▲비전 AI 기반 안전관제 시스템 개발 등 5개 분야다.
지원 자격은 만 34세 이하 미취업 청년으로, 선발된 교육생들은 다음 달부터 약 4개월 동안 포항에서 전문 교육을 받게 된다. 교육 기간에는 직무 교육과 함께 현직자 멘토링, 사업장 방문, 취업 특강 등 다양한 취업 지원 프로그램도 제공될 예정이다.
참가 희망자는 포스코그룹이 운영하는 포스코 중소기업 컨소시엄 홈페이지를 통해 신청할 수 있다.
한편 포스코그룹은 지난 2019년부터 포유드림 프로그램을 운영하며 청년 취업 지원에 힘써왔다. 현재까지 약 6,500명의 수료생을 배출했으며, 산업 현장에서 요구하는 실무형 인재 양성과 청년 고용 경쟁력 제고에 기여하고 있다.

In line with the expanding use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the manufacturing sector, POSCO Group is embarking on the cultivation of young talent to lead future industries.
POSCO Group announced that it has established a new practical AI training course specialized in manufacturing and smart factories as part of its youth employment competency enhancement program, ‘POSCO Youth Dream,’ and began recruiting trainees on the 17th.
This course is operated in conjunction with the ‘K-New Deal Academy’ project promoted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Employment and Labor. POSCO Group plans to select a total of 300 young people this year and cultivate them into talents equipped with the professional competencies required for a smart manufacturing environment. Through this initiative, the group aims to share practical experience and technical know-how in the field of manufacturing innovation with local youth, thereby supporting the enhancement of their employment competitiveness.
The training is structured around AI technologies that are highly utilized in manufacturing sites. The main courses cover five fields: development of industrial software utilizing on-device AI, design of deep learning-based manufacturing AI models, establishment of smart factory AI assistants using Large Language Models (LLM), AI data analysis for predicting equipment anomalies, and development of vision AI-based safety control systems.
Eligibility is open to unemployed youth aged 34 or younger. Selected trainees will receive specialized training in Pohang for approximately four months starting next month. During the training period, various employment support programs will be provided alongside job-specific training, including mentoring by current employees, workplace visits, and special lectures on employment.

Meanwhile, POSCO Group has been dedicated to supporting youth employment since 2019 by operating the "For You Dream" program.
