【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항해양경찰서가 여름철 해양사고 예방과 안전관리 강화를 위해 한국해양안전교통공단과 협력체계를 한층 강화한다.
포항해양경찰서는 24일 한국해양안전교통공단(KOMSA) 포항지사를 찾아 해양안전 정책과 주요 업무 추진 현황을 공유하고 상호 협력 방안을 논의하는 업무협의를 진행했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협의는 본격적인 여름 성수기를 앞두고 연안사고 예방 대책을 점검하고, 해양안전 분야에서 기관 간 공조체계를 더욱 공고히 하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 양 기관은 해양사고 예방을 위한 정보 교류와 협업 방안을 논의하는 한편, 사고 발생 시 신속한 대응을 위해 인적·물적 자원과 관련 정보를 공유하는 협력체계를 지속적으로 유지하기로 뜻을 모았다.
또한 국민의 생명과 재산 보호를 최우선 가치로 삼고 해양안전 사각지대 해소와 선제적 사고 예방 활동에도 공동으로 노력하기로 했다.
행사에서는 그동안 선박 안전관리와 해양사고 예방 활동에 기여하며 해양경찰 업무에 적극 협조해 온 관계자들에 대한 감사의 뜻도 전해졌다.
최경일 지사장과 손호숙 팀장은 해양안전 증진과 협력 활성화에 기여한 공로로 표창을 받았다.
이근안 서장은 “해양안전은 특정 기관의 노력만으로 완성될 수 없는 만큼 관계기관 간 긴밀한 협력이 필수적”이라며 “앞으로도 한국해양안전교통공단과 지속적인 소통과 협력을 이어가며 해양사고 예방과 국민 안전 확보에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 포항해양경찰서는 여름철 해양활동 증가에 대비해 연안 위험구역 점검과 안전 홍보 활동을 확대하는 등 해양사고 예방을 위한 다양한 정책을 추진하고 있다.

Meanwhile, the Pohang Coast Guard is implementing various policies to prevent maritime accidents, including expanding inspections of coastal danger zones and safety awareness campaigns in preparation for the increase in maritime activities during the summer season.
