경북교육청은 3일 안동 국립경국대학교 정보통신원과 국제교류관에서 도내 특수교육 대상 학생들이 참가한 가운데 정보경진과 e스포츠를 결합한 장애학생 e페스티벌을 진행했다고 밝혔다.
이번 대회는 학생들이 정보기술 활용 능력을 키우고 e스포츠 활동을 통해 성취감과 자신감을 높일 수 있도록 마련됐다. 아울러 오는 10월 열리는 전국 장애학생 e페스티벌에 출전할 경북 대표 선수를 선발하는 자리도 함께 겸했다.
행사에는 도내 특수학교와 일반학교 특수학급 학생 130명, 지도교사 70명 등 모두 200여 명이 참가했으며, 종목별 경기는 국립경국대학교 정보통신원 강의실과 국제교류관 대회의장에서 진행됐다.
대회는 정보경진과 e스포츠 두 분야로 나눠 운영됐다. 정보경진 부문에서는 아래한글과 파워포인트, 코딩 등 8개 종목을 통해 정보 활용 능력과 문제 해결 역량을 평가했으며, e스포츠 부문에서는 팀파이트 택틱스, FC 온라인, 닌텐도 스위치 등 6개 종목에서 협동심과 전략적 사고, 집중력 등을 겨뤘다.
참가 학생들은 그동안 익힌 디지털 기술과 게임 기반 문제 해결 능력을 발휘하며 실력을 겨뤘고, 경기 과정에서는 서로를 응원하고 소통하며 협력의 의미를 배우는 시간을 가졌다. 지도교사들도 학생들의 도전을 격려하며 디지털 교육과 사회성 향상이라는 교육적 가치를 함께 확인했다.
경북교육청은 장애학생 e페스티벌을 단순한 기능 경연을 넘어 미래사회에 필요한 디지털 역량을 키우고 학생 개개인의 잠재력을 발견하는 교육 프로그램으로 확대해 나갈 계획이다. 앞으로도 AI·SW 교육과 정보화 교육을 지속적으로 강화해 장애학생들이 디지털 환경 속에서 자신의 진로와 미래를 주도적으로 설계할 수 있도록 지원한다는 방침이다.
임종식 교육감은 "장애학생 e페스티벌은 학생들이 도전과 성취를 경험하며 자신의 가능성을 확인하는 의미 있는 무대"라며 "AI·디지털 시대에 필요한 정보 활용 능력과 창의성을 키워 미래사회를 이끌 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 다양한 교육 지원을 이어가겠다"고 말했다.
이어 "이번 대회가 단순히 승패를 가르는 경쟁을 넘어 서로를 격려하고 함께 성장하는 축제의 장이 되기를 바라며, 장애학생들의 꿈과 도전을 지역사회가 함께 응원하는 계기가 되길 기대한다"고 덧붙였다.

A total of approximately 200 people participated in the event, including 130 students from special schools and special classes in regular schools within the province, as well as 70 supervising teachers. Competitions for each category were held in lecture halls at the Information and Communication Center and the main conference hall of the International Exchange Hall at Kyungkuk National University. The competition was divided into two categories: Information Technology and e-Sports. In the Information Technology category, students were evaluated on their information utilization skills and problem-solving capabilities across eight events, including Hangul, PowerPoint, and coding. In the e-Sports category, they competed in six events, such as Teamfight Tactics, FC Online, and Nintendo Switch, testing their teamwork, strategic thinking, and concentration.
Participating students showcased their skills by demonstrating the digital technologies and game-based problem-solving abilities they had acquired. During the competitions, they also had the opportunity to learn the meaning of cooperation by cheering on and communicating with one another. The Gyeongbuk Office of Education plans to expand the e-Festival for Students with Disabilities beyond a simple skills competition into an educational program that fosters digital competencies necessary for future society and discovers the potential of individual students. The office intends to continue strengthening AI, software, and informatization education to support students with disabilities in proactively designing their career paths and futures within a digital environment. Superintendent Lim Jong-sik stated, "The e-Festival for Students with Disabilities is a meaningful stage where students experience challenges and achievements while confirming their potential." He added, "We will continue to provide diverse educational support to help them grow into talents who will lead future society by fostering the information utilization skills and creativity necessary for the AI and digital era."
He further added, "I hope this event goes beyond mere competition to become a festival where participants encourage one another and grow together, and I look forward to it serving as an opportunity for the local community to support the dreams and challenges of students with disabilities."
