구미시는 ‘2027년 농어촌 취약지역 생활여건 개조사업’ 대상지로 무을면 웅곡리가 최종 선정돼 국도비 16억 원을 포함한 총사업비 21억 원을 확보했다고 6일 밝혔다.

이번 선정으로 구미시는 2025년부터 2027년까지 3년 연속 공모사업에 이름을 올리며 농촌지역 생활환경 개선 성과를 이어가게 됐다.

해당 사업은 생활 기반이 취약한 농촌 지역을 대상으로 주거환경 개선과 기반시설 확충, 공동체 활성화 등을 지원하는 국가 공모사업이다.

구미시는 앞서 2025년 도개면 용산1리, 2026년 장천면 오로1리에 이어 올해 무을면 웅곡리까지 연속으로 사업 대상지를 확보했다. 시는 사업계획 수립 단계부터 주민과 행정이 함께 참여해 지역 여건에 맞는 실행 계획을 마련한 점이 좋은 평가로 이어졌다고 설명했다.

무을면 웅곡리 사업은 2027년부터 2030년까지 4년간 추진된다. 주요 내용은 슬레이트 지붕 개량과 노후주택 정비, 빈집 및 재래식 화장실 정비 등 주거환경 개선을 비롯해 마을 안길과 주차장 정비, 폐기물 정리 등 생활 인프라 확충이 포함된다.

또한 공동텃밭 조성과 귀농·귀촌 기반시설 구축, 주민 역량 강화 프로그램 운영 등을 통해 지속 가능한 농촌 공동체 조성도 병행할 계획이다.

구미시는 해당 사업 외에도 농촌 지역 발전을 위한 다양한 개발사업을 함께 추진하고 있다. 농촌중심지활성화사업과 기초생활거점조성사업을 지속적으로 진행하는 한편, 주민 참여형 ‘마을만들기 사업’도 올해 신규 3개 지구를 선정해 추진 중이며 이 중 1곳은 연내 사업에 착수할 예정이다.

김장호 구미시장은 “공모사업 대응을 통해 농촌 지역 개선 사업을 꾸준히 확대해 왔다”며 “앞으로도 생활 여건이 열악한 농촌 지역을 중심으로 균형 있는 발전을 이끌고, 농촌에 활력을 불어넣을 수 있도록 다양한 정책을 지속 추진하겠다”고 말했다.

This project is a national public competition initiative that supports the improvement of residential environments, expansion of infrastructure, and community revitalization for rural areas with weak living foundations. Gumi City has secured project sites consecutively, adding Unggok-ri in Mueul-myeon this year, following Yongsan 1-ri in Dogae-myeon in 2025 and Oro 1-ri in Jangcheon-myeon in 2026. The city explained that the positive evaluation was due to the collaborative participation of residents and the administration from the planning stage to develop implementation plans tailored to local conditions.

The project in Unggok-ri, Mueul-myeon will be implemented over four years, from 2027 to 2030. Key initiatives include improving the residential environment—such as upgrading slate roofs, renovating aging houses, and repairing vacant homes and traditional toilets—as well as expanding living infrastructure, including maintaining village roads and parking lots and clearing waste.

In addition, the city plans to foster a sustainable rural community through the creation of community gardens, the establishment of infrastructure for those returning to farming or rural life, and the operation of resident capacity-building programs.

In addition to this project, Gumi City is also pursuing various other development initiatives to promote the growth of rural areas. While continuously carrying out the Rural Center Revitalization Project and the Basic Living Hub Creation Project, the city is also promoting the resident-participatory ‘Village Making Project’ by selecting three new districts this year, with one of them scheduled to commence operations within the year.
