DGIST는 지난 7일 대구 삼성라이온즈파크에서 대학 임직원과 학생, 가족, 협력업체 관계자 등 1,000여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘DGIST 베이스볼 데이’를 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 학업과 연구, 행정 업무로 고생한 학내 구성원과 파트너 기업인들을 격려하기 위해 마련됐다. 일터와 학교를 벗어나 자유로운 분위기 속에서 소통하며 활기찬 조직 문화를 만들자는 취지다.

삼성 라이온즈와 LG 트윈스의 경기 시작 전에는 대학과 지역 산업계의 상생을 기원하는 시구·시타 행사가 펼쳐졌다. 이충곤 디지스트발전재단 이사장(에스엘 회장)이 시구자로 나섰고, 서초우 DGIST 총학생회장이 시타를 맡아 대학과 재단의 동반 성장을 다짐했다.

이충곤 이사장은 대학 구성원과 지역 기업인들이 한데 어우러진 뜻깊은 자리였다며, DGIST가 세계적인 연구 중심 대학으로 도약할 수 있도록 발전재단 차원의 지원을 아끼지 않겠다고 전했다.

한편, DGIST는 최근 영국 글로벌 대학평가기관 QS가 발표한 ‘세계대학평가’ 중 연구 역량을 나타내는 지표인 ‘교수 1인당 논문 피인용 수’에서 2년 연속 국내 1위를 차지하며 세계 수준의 경쟁력을 증명한 바 있다.

DGIST Hosts 'Baseball Day' with 1,000 Attendees at Lions Park

The Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) visited a local professional baseball stadium to host a large-scale event promoting harmony among its members.

DGIST announced that it held the "DGIST Baseball Day" on the 7th at Daegu Samsung Lions Park, with approximately 1,000 attendees including university staff, students, their families, and representatives from partner companies.

This event was organized to encourage faculty, staff, and partner company representatives who have worked hard on their studies, research, and administrative duties. The aim was to foster a vibrant organizational culture by allowing communication in a relaxed atmosphere, away from the workplace and school.

Before the start of the game between the Samsung Lions and the LG Twins, a ceremonial first pitch and first swing took place to wish for mutual growth between the university and the local industrial sector. Lee Chung-gon, Chairman of the DGIST Development Foundation (and Chairman of SL), served as the ceremonial first pitch thrower, while Seo Cho-woo, President of the DGIST Student Council, took the ceremonial first swing, pledging the joint growth of the university and the foundation.

Meanwhile, DGIST has demonstrated its world-class competitiveness by ranking first in Korea for two consecutive years in "citations per faculty member," an indicator of research capability, among the "World University Rankings" announced by the British global university ranking institution QS.
