9일 대구시교육청은 호텔 인터불고 대구에서 'IB 추진 협력 증진을 위한 대구-대전 교육감 협의회'를 열고 국·공립학교에서의 IB 프로그램 운영 확대와 정책 협력 방안을 논의했다. 이 자리에는 강은희 대구교육감, 오석진 대전교육감을 비롯해 양 교육청 관계자와 대전지역 학교장, 전문직원 등 40여 명이 참석했다.

협의회에 앞서 대전교육청 참관단은 대구중리초등학교와 대구서부고등학교를 찾아, 개념 중심 수업과 학생 성장 중심 평가, 교사 전문학습공동체 운영 등 대구 지역의 IB 교육 현장을 직접 살펴봤다.

이날 양 교육청은 IB 기반 교육과정과 수업·평가 혁신, 교원 전문성 강화, 학교 지원체계 구축, 그리고 시·도 간 정책 교류 확대 등을 주요 의제로 다뤘다. 또한 정기적인 정책 교류와 현장 방문, 공동 교원연수 등 다양한 형태의 협력을 이어가기로 했다.

대구시교육청은 2019년 국내 최초로 공교육에 IB를 도입했으며, 현재 전담 조직과 지원체계를 바탕으로 40개 IB 월드스쿨을 운영 중이다. 대전시교육청은 2025년부터 본격적으로 IB를 도입할 예정으로, 현재 탐색학교와 후보학교 등 20개교가 관련 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.

강은희 교육감은 "학교장의 교수·학습 리더십과 교사 간 협력 문화가 IB의 지속 가능한 안착에 핵심적인 역할을 한다"며, "앞으로도 다양한 시·도교육청과 함께 정책과 현장을 적극적으로 공유해 공교육 혁신을 이어가겠다"고 밝혔다.

On this day, the two offices of education addressed key agenda items such as innovation in IB-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment; strengthening teacher professionalism; establishing school support systems; and expanding policy exchanges between the two cities and provinces. The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education introduced the IB into public education for the first time in Korea in 2019 and currently operates 40 IB World Schools based on a dedicated organization and support system. The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education plans to introduce the IB in earnest starting in 2025, with 20 schools, including exploratory and candidate schools, currently running related programs.

Superintendent Kang Eun-hee stated, "The teaching and learning leadership of school principals and a culture of cooperation among teachers play a key role in the sustainable establishment of the IB," adding, "We will continue to innovate public education by actively sharing policies and practices with various city and provincial offices of education."
