시는 15일 풍산읍농업인상담소에서 '안동 스마트농업 육성지구 조성사업' 주민설명회를 개최했다고 밝혔다. 이날 설명회에서는 사업의 주요 내용과 향후 추진 일정, 토지 보상 절차 등을 설명하고 참석 주민들의 의견을 청취하는 시간을 가졌다.

이번 사업은 풍천면 가곡리와 풍산읍 소산리 일원에 임대형 스마트팜과 민간투자단지, 복합문화공간 등을 조성해 스마트농업 중심 거점을 구축하는 것이 핵심이다. 이를 통해 청년농업인의 창업과 영농 정착을 지원하고 지역 농업의 경쟁력을 높인다는 구상이다.

안동시는 현재 사업 추진을 위한 관련 용역 계약을 마무리하는 등 사전 절차를 진행 중이다. 앞으로 보상과 행정 절차를 단계적으로 추진하는 한편, 주민 의견을 지속적으로 수렴해 사업에 반영할 방침이다.

시는 그동안 노지 스마트농업 시범단지를 운영하며 축적한 재배 기술과 데이터 등을 기반으로 스마트농업 확산을 추진해 왔다. 이번 육성지구 조성을 통해 청년농업인의 안정적인 영농 기반을 마련하고 미래 농업환경 변화에 대응할 수 있는 기반을 구축한다는 전략이다.

권기창 안동시장은 "스마트농업 육성지구는 지역 농업의 경쟁력을 높이는 중요한 기반이 될 것"이라며 "주민과 충분히 소통하면서 공모사업 선정과 사업 추진이 원활하게 이뤄질 수 있도록 행정적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다"고 말했다.
