달성시니어클럽이 운영하는 비슬애빵(화원읍 비슬로 2417)은 지난 7월 1일 문을 열었다. 대구시 ‘시니어클럽 특성화사업’ 공모 선정으로 추진된 이 사업은 어르신들이 직접 제빵 기술을 활용해 제품을 만들고 판매하는 수익형 노인일자리 사업이다.

매장은 포장과 배달 중심으로 운영되지만 개소 이후 입소문을 타면서 지역 주민들의 방문이 이어지고 있다. 어린이집과 복지시설 등에서도 단체 주문이 들어오는 등 지역 내 간식 공간으로 빠르게 자리 잡고 있다는 평가다.

특히 대표 메뉴인 100% 쌀가루 수제 ‘호두모찌’는 매일 준비하는 80개 물량이 조기에 판매될 정도로 높은 인기를 얻고 있다. 이 밖에도 호두과자와 땅콩빵 등 어르신들의 손맛이 담긴 다양한 구움과자가 호응을 얻고 있다.

개소 이후 보름 동안 호두과자는 1천169개, 땅콩빵은 2천975개가 판매됐으며, 인근 기관과 시설을 통한 단체 간식 주문도 6차례 이어졌다.

현재 비슬애빵에는 제빵 교육을 이수한 60세 이상 어르신 10명이 참여하고 있다. 참여자들은 월요일부터 금요일까지 오전 10시부터 오후 5시 30분까지 교대로 근무하며 제품 제조부터 매장 관리까지 운영 전반을 직접 맡고 있다.

근무자 도리숙 어르신(67)은 “직접 만든 빵을 손님들이 맛있게 드시는 모습을 볼 때 큰 보람을 느낀다”며 “매일 출근할 수 있는 일터와 함께 일하는 동료들이 생겨 생활에 활력이 되고 있다”고 말했다.

매장을 찾은 주민 김모 씨(42·화원읍)는 “어르신들이 매장을 깨끗하게 관리해 믿음이 가고, 빵도 많이 달지 않으면서 쫄깃해 아이들 간식으로 자주 구매하고 있다”고 전했다.

비슬애빵 운영을 통해 발생하는 수익은 참여 어르신들의 인건비와 사업단 운영비로 다시 활용된다. 달성군과 달성시니어클럽은 앞으로도 어르신들의 사회 참여 기회를 확대하고 지역과 함께 성장하는 일자리 모델을 만들어갈 계획이다.

Mr. Kim (42, Hwawon-eup), a resident who visited the store, said, “I trust the store because the seniors keep it clean, and the bread is chewy and not too sweet, so I often buy it as a snack for my children.”

The profits generated from the operation of Biseulae Bread are reinvested for the labor costs of the participating seniors and the operating expenses of the business group.
