고령군은 국토교통부가 주관한 ‘2026년 지역개발사업(지역수요맞춤지원)’ 공모에 최종 선정돼 총사업비 59억3000만 원을 확보했다고 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 기존 농촌체험특구 내 이색 숙박시설과 주변 관광자원을 연결해 주민과 관광객, 생활인구가 함께 머물고 교류할 수 있는 복합 공간을 조성하는 것이 핵심이다. 군은 이를 통해 지역경제 활성화와 주민 공동체 강화에 나설 계획이다.

특히 현재 추진 중인 ‘경북형 이색숙박시설 조성사업’과 연계해 단순 방문 중심의 관광에서 벗어나 체류와 소비가 이어지는 관광 모델을 구축한다는 방침이다. 생활인구 유입을 확대하고 지역 내 체류 시간을 늘릴 수 있는 새로운 관광 거점을 만든다는 구상이다.

사업의 중심 시설인 대가야 어울림센터에는 문화·행사 공간인 ‘대가야 어울림홀’을 비롯해 생활인구 및 관광 프로그램 운영을 위한 ‘고령 잇다 라운지’, 주민 휴식 공간인 ‘약초 테라피 쉼터’, 커뮤니티 카페테리아, 실내놀이터 등이 조성될 예정이다.

관광객 편의를 높이기 위한 콘텐츠도 함께 마련된다. 고령군은 대가야읍 주요 관광지를 연결하는 ‘대가야 투어버스’를 운영하고, 인공지능(AI) 기반 음성 관광해설 서비스를 도입해 관광 이동 편의성과 만족도를 높일 계획이다.

또한 다양한 생활인구 프로그램과 지역 관광 콘텐츠를 연계해 방문객 체류를 유도하고, 지역 상권 이용 확대로 이어지는 선순환 구조를 마련한다는 목표다.

고령군은 이번 사업이 관광시설 확충을 넘어 주민과 외부 방문객이 교류하고 문화 활동과 지역 소비, 창업이 연결되는 지속 가능한 지역 활성화 공간으로 자리 잡을 것으로 기대하고 있다.

군은 앞으로 군계획시설(유원지) 조성계획 변경 등 관련 행정 절차를 진행하고, 2029년 준공을 목표로 사업 추진에 속도를 낼 예정이다.

이남철 고령군수는 "이번 공모 선정은 고령 관광과 지역경제 활성화를 위한 새로운 전환점이 될 것"이라며 "대가야 어울림센터를 중심으로 생활인구 유입과 체류형 관광을 확대하고 주민 삶의 질 향상으로 이어질 수 있도록 사업을 차질 없이 추진하겠다"고 말했다.

The Daegaya Eoullim Center, the central facility of the project, is scheduled to feature the ‘Daegaya Eoullim Hall,’ a space for culture and events; the ‘Goryeong Itta Lounge,’ designed for operating programs for local residents and tourism; the ‘Medicinal Herb Therapy Shelter,’ a relaxation space for residents; a community cafeteria; and an indoor playground.

The county plans to proceed with relevant administrative procedures, such as changes to the county planning facility (recreational area) development plan, and accelerate the project with the goal of completion in 2029.

Goryeong County Governor Lee Nam-cheol stated, "This selection through the public competition will serve as a new turning point for revitalizing Goryeong tourism and the local economy," adding, "We will proceed with the project without any setbacks to expand the influx of residents and stay-type tourism centered around the Daegaya Eoullim Center, ultimately leading to an improvement in the quality of life for residents."
