대구시의회 문화복지위원회(위원장 이재숙)는 제327회 임시회 일정 중인 24일, 대구 동구 숙천동에 위치한 어린이 복합문화공간 ‘와글와글아이세상’을 재방문해 시설 보완 상태와 현장 운영 전반을 점검했다.

이번 방문은 작년 6월 제317회 정례회 현장 점검 당시 위원회가 지적했던 시설 내 위험 요소들이 실질적으로 보완되었는지 사후 관리를 확인하기 위해 추진된 일정으로, 위원들은 현장 관계자들과 함께 시설을 둘러보며 아이들의 안전과 직결된 사안들을 꼼꼼하게 짚었다.

 

와글와글아이세상은 행정안전부의 지역사회 활성화 기반 조성 사업에 선정되어 총사업비 98억 원을 투입, 지하 1층~지상 2층 규모로 조성된 뒤 지난 2025년 7월 문을 열었다.

 

키즈카페형 놀이공간부터 소극장, 어린이도서관, 체육관, 체험실 등을 갖춘 대형 시설인 만큼 영유아 및 어린이 이용객의 발길이 꾸준히 이어지는 곳으로, 소극장 및 어린이도서관, 시설 내 이동 동선, 운영 체계 등을 집중 점검한뒤, 아이와 보호자 모두가 불안감 없이 공간을 이용할 수 있도록 지속적이고 철저한 안전관리를 주문했다.

 

이재숙 문화복지위원장은 “아이들이 마음 놓고 뛰어놀 수 있는 안전한 환경을 구축하는 것은 지자체와 사회가 이행해야 할 가장 기본적이고 엄중한 책무”라며 “일회성 점검에 그치지 않고 사후 관리가 철저히 이뤄지도록 의회 차원의 감독과 지원을 지속하겠다”고 강조했다.
