영주시보건소는 지난 30일 영주적십자병원과 지역보건의료기관 기능개편 시범사업의 효율적인 추진을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 만성질환 의심 환자를 조기에 발견해 전문 진료와 사후 건강관리까지 연계하는 지역사회 중심의 의료서비스 체계를 마련하는 데 초점을 맞췄다.

협약에 따라 보건지소와 통합형보건지소, 보건진료소는 건강상담과 기초검사를 통해 만성질환이 의심되는 주민을 선별해 영주적십자병원으로 진료를 의뢰한다. 병원은 전문 진료와 필요한 검사를 실시한 뒤 진단 결과와 향후 치료·관리 계획을 담은 소견서를 보건소에 전달한다.

보건소는 병원의 소견을 토대로 대상자별 건강관리계획을 수립하고 혈압과 혈당 관리, 생활습관 개선 상담, 영양교육, 운동 프로그램 등 지속적인 건강관리 서비스를 제공할 예정이다.

양 기관은 이번 협약을 계기로 의료기관의 전문 진료 기능과 보건소의 건강관리 기능을 유기적으로 연계해 주민들이 진료 이후에도 지속적인 만성질환 관리 서비스를 받을 수 있는 기반을 강화한다는 방침이다.

특히 지역보건의료기관 기능개편 시범사업의 핵심인 통합형보건지소 운영체계를 활성화하고, 만성질환의 조기 발견부터 전문 진료, 사후 건강관리까지 이어지는 예방 중심의 의료체계를 구축하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

여태현 영주시 보건위생과장은 "의료기관과의 협력을 바탕으로 만성질환 환자들이 적기에 전문 진료를 받고 이후에도 지속적인 건강관리를 받을 수 있도록 지원하겠다"며 "앞으로도 지역 의료기관과 협력 범위를 넓혀 시민 건강 증진에 힘쓰겠다"고 말했다.

영주적십자병원 관계자는 "보건소와의 협력체계를 통해 지역 주민에게 전문성과 연속성을 갖춘 의료서비스를 제공하고, 공공 책임의료기관으로서 역할을 더욱 충실히 수행하겠다"고 밝혔다.
