【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구 북구청이 침체된 지역 상권 활성화와 주민 편의를 위해 주정차 위반 단속 유예 시간을 확대 운영한다.
북구청은 고물가와 고금리 등으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 지역 상권을 지원하기 위해 기존 점심 시간대에만 적용하던 주정차 단속 유예를 저녁 시간대까지 한시적으로 확대한다고 밝혔다.
이에 따라 오는 8월부터 주정차 단속 운영시간인 오전 7시부터 오후 8시 가운데 기존 낮 12시부터 오후 2시까지 적용하던 유예 시간에 더해 오후 6시부터 8시까지도 단속이 유예된다.
이번 조치는 퇴근 이후 음식점과 상가를 이용하는 주민들의 주차 불편을 줄이고, 골목상권 방문 활성화를 통해 지역경제 회복에 도움을 주기 위해 마련됐다.
북구청은 유예 시간 확대에 따른 교통 불편과 안전 문제를 예방하기 위해 별도 근무조를 운영하며 현장 관리에도 나선다. 다만 주민신고제 대상인 6대 주정차 금지구역은 기존과 동일하게 단속을 유지한다.
단속 대상 제외 구역은 ▲인도 ▲횡단보도 ▲교차로 모퉁이 ▲버스정류장 ▲소화전 주변 ▲어린이보호구역 등이며, 유턴 구간 역시 기존 단속 기준이 적용된다.
이근수 북구청장은 “경기 침체로 매출 감소와 공실 증가 등 어려움을 겪는 지역 상권에 활력을 더하기 위해 이번 조치를 시행하게 됐다”며 “주민 편의를 높이는 동시에 안전한 교통환경을 유지하면서 지역경제 활성화에 도움이 될 수 있도록 운영하겠다”고 말했다.

Accordingly, starting this August, enforcement will be suspended from 6 PM to 8 PM, in addition to the existing grace period from 12 PM to 2 PM, within the standard enforcement hours of 7 AM to 8 PM.
This measure was established to reduce parking inconvenience for residents visiting restaurants and shops after work and to help revitalize the local economy by encouraging visits to alley commercial districts.
To prevent traffic congestion and safety issues arising from the expanded grace period, the Buk-gu Office will operate a separate work team and engage in on-site management. However, enforcement will remain in effect for the six no-parking zones subject to the resident reporting system, just as before.
Areas excluded from enforcement include sidewalks, crosswalks, intersection corners, bus stops, areas around fire hydrants, and child protection zones; existing enforcement standards will also apply to U-turn sections.
Buk-gu Mayor Lee Geun-soo stated, "We have implemented this measure to revitalize local commercial districts that are struggling with declining sales and increasing vacancies due to the economic downturn." He added, "We will operate this system to help boost the local economy while enhancing resident convenience and maintaining a safe traffic environment."
