【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구동구교육재단이 여름방학을 맞아 중학생들을 대상으로 ‘중등 AI 과학캠프’를 성황리에 마쳤다. 이번 캠프는 3일부터 7일까지 5일간 고려대학교 세종캠퍼스에서 진행됐다.
재단에 따르면, 관내 중학생 36명이 참가한 이번 캠프에서는 인공지능과 드론, 진로교육이 어우러진 실습 중심 프로그램이 마련됐다. 학생들은 AI 프로그래밍 기초를 배우고, 데이터 전처리와 AI 모델 체험, 또 자체 프로젝트 수행 등 다양한 실습을 직접 경험했다.
특히 드론 실습에서는 직접 부품을 조립하고, 안전교육을 받은 뒤 실전 비행까지 전 과정을 소화했다. 또 이공계 대학생 멘토들과 소규모 진로 멘토링 시간을 통해 진학과 학습 방법, 진로 설계에 관한 궁금증을 해소하는 시간도 가졌다. 캠프 마지막 날에는 팀별로 프로젝트 결과를 발표하고, 피드백을 주고받으며 서로의 성과를 확인했다.
우성진 대구동구교육재단 이사장은 "이번 AI 과학캠프가 학생들이 디지털 활용 역량을 키우고, 미래 진로를 보다 구체적으로 설계하는 데 도움이 됐길 바란다"며 "앞으로도 미래형 융합인재를 키울 수 있도록 맞춤형 교육 프로그램을 지속적으로 확대하겠다"고 말했다.
재단은 이번 캠프를 통해 학생들이 AI 기술을 몸소 체험하고 문제 해결 능력을 기르는 것은 물론, 대학 연계 교육으로 진로 설계에 한 걸음 더 다가가는 계기가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

The Foundation expects that this camp will serve as an opportunity for students to personally experience AI technology and develop problem-solving skills, as well as take a step closer to career planning through university-linked education.
