【브레이크뉴스 구미】이성현 기자=경북 구미 지역 내 치매 환자들이 생활권 가까운 병원에서 종합적인 건강 관리 서비스를 받을 수 있게 된다.
구미시는 보건복지부가 주관하는 ‘2차 치매관리주치의 시범사업’ 대상지로 관내 의료기관 3곳과 전담 의사 3명이 최종 지정됐다고 밝혔다.
이번에 지정된 의료기관 및 전문의는 ▲구미강동병원(김두현) ▲구미오케이신경과의원(류성근) ▲의료법인 민현의료재단 미래로병원(류동근)이다.
치매관리주치의 제도는 치매 환자가 거주지 인근에서 치매 증상 치료는 물론, 동반된 전반적인 건강 이상을 지속적으로 케어받을 수 있도록 돕는 제도다. 지난 2024년 7월 1차 시범 운영을 거쳐, 올해 7월부터 전국 92개 시·군·구, 329개 병·의원으로 대상 지역이 크게 확장됐다.
지정된 주치의는 환자의 상태를 다각도로 평가해 맞춤형 치료·관리 계획을 세우고, 밀착 상담과 전문 교육을 제공하는 역할을 맡는다. 사업은 2026년 7월부터 2028년 12월까지 진행되며, 입원 환자를 제외한 지역 거주 치매 환자라면 누구나 이용 가능하다.
환자 본인부담금은 전체 서비스 비용의 20% 수준이며, 중증 치매 환자의 경우 10%만 부담하면 된다.
구미시 치매안심센터는 이번에 지정된 병·의원들과 밀접한 공조 체계를 구축하고 환자 연결, 서비스 연계, 대주민 홍보 활동을 적극 펼칠 예정이다.
김장호 구미시장은 “지역 치매 환자들이 멀리 가지 않고도 가까운 곳에서 체계적이고 전문적인 의료 서비스를 받게 될 것으로 기대한다”며 “의료기관들과 협력해 치매 환자와 보호자가 안심하고 살 수 있는 지역 환경을 조성하겠다”고 말했다.

Dementia patients in the Gumi region of North Gyeongsang Province will now be able to receive comprehensive health management services at hospitals close to their living areas.
Gumi City announced that three local medical institutions and three dedicated physicians have been finally designated as target sites for the ‘2nd Dementia Management Primary Care Physician Pilot Project,’ organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The designated medical institutions and specialists are ▲Gumi Gangdong Hospital (Kim Du-hyeon) ▲Gumi OK Neurology Clinic (Ryu Seong-geun) ▲Minhyeon Medical Foundation Mirero Hospital (Ryu Dong-geun).
The Dementia Management Primary Care Physician system is designed to help dementia patients receive continuous care for overall health issues, as well as treatment for dementia symptoms, near their residences. Following the first pilot operation in July 2024, the target areas have been significantly expanded starting this July to include 329 hospitals and clinics across 92 cities, counties, and districts nationwide. The designated attending physician is responsible for evaluating the patient's condition from various angles to establish a customized treatment and management plan, as well as providing close counseling and specialized training. The program will run from July 2026 to December 2028 and is available to any local dementia patient, excluding inpatients.
Patient co-payments are approximately 20% of the total service cost, with patients with severe dementia required to pay only 10%.
The Gumi City Dementia Relief Center plans to establish a close cooperative system with the newly designated hospitals and clinics to actively engage in patient referrals, service coordination, and public awareness campaigns.
Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, "I expect that local dementia patients will be able to receive systematic and professional medical services close to home without having to travel far," adding, "We will cooperate with medical institutions to create a local environment where dementia patients and their caregivers can live with peace of mind."
