영주시는 사단법인 한국복싱진흥원이 주최·주관하는 ‘2026 Korea International Boxing Training Camp’를 유치하고, 참가 선수단의 원활한 훈련 운영을 위한 행정 지원을 진행하고 있다고 밝혔다.

이번 캠프는 지난 3일부터 오는 14일까지 대한복싱훈련장에서 열리며, 대만 국가대표팀을 비롯해 국내 실업팀과 대학팀 등 350여 명의 선수단이 참가해 합동훈련과 복싱 기술 교류를 이어가고 있다.

특히 이번 훈련에는 국제무대에서 활약 중인 대만 대표 선수들이 참가해 관심을 모으고 있다. 2024 파리올림픽 여자 복싱 금메달리스트 린위팅(Lin Yu-Ting) 선수와 도쿄올림픽 동메달리스트 황샤오원(Huang Hsiao-Wen) 선수가 훈련에 참여하고 있다.

또한 대만 국가대표팀 총감독인 쩡쯔창(Tseng Tzu-Chiang) 박사가 특별 코치로 나서 국내 선수들에게 국제 수준의 훈련 방식과 지도 경험을 공유하고 있다.

영주시는 해외 선수단이 훈련에 집중할 수 있도록 이동 지원 등 행정 편의를 제공하고 있다. 선수단 숙소인 동양대학교 기숙사와 대한복싱훈련장을 오가는 전용 차량을 매일 운영해 이동 불편을 최소화하고 안전한 훈련 환경을 조성하고 있다.

대만 선수단은 훈련 종료 후 오는 15일 영주시 주요 관광지를 방문해 지역 문화 체험과 교류 활동을 진행할 예정이며, 16일 공식 일정을 마치고 귀국한다.

영주시는 이번 전지훈련 유치를 계기로 대한복싱훈련장의 시설 경쟁력을 알리고, 국제 복싱 교류의 중심지로 자리매김할 수 있도록 스포츠 마케팅을 지속 추진할 계획이다.
