포스코와이드는 10일 서울 태평로빌딩 본사에서 국군대전병원과 ‘자원순환 파트너십 구축을 위한 업무협약’을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 협약식에는 김원희 포스코와이드 대표와 이국종 국군대전병원장이 참석했다.

이번 협약에 따라 포스코와이드는 기존 사무집기 재활용 사업인 ‘자원多잇다’의 지원 범위를 군 관련 시설로 확대한다. 국군대전병원은 자원순환 물품 지원을 받는 동시에 인근 군부대를 대상으로 친환경 자원순환 활동을 알리는 역할을 맡는다.

‘자원多잇다’는 부동산 종합관리 과정에서 사용하던 사무용 가구와 비품 가운데 재사용이 가능한 물품을 필요한 사회복지시설이나 지역사회 등에 전달하는 사업이다. 포스코와이드 임직원의 급여 1% 기부금과 포스코1%나눔재단의 협력을 기반으로 운영되며, 사업을 시작한 이후 수천 점의 가구와 비품을 기부해왔다.

양측은 물품 지원을 넘어 군 내 자원순환 인식을 높이는 캠페인도 공동으로 추진할 예정이다. 군부대에서 자원 재사용과 탄소 저감의 필요성을 알리는 활동을 진행하고, ESG 관련 성과를 체계적으로 관리할 수 있도록 관련 데이터를 공유하고 컨설팅하는 방안도 협력 분야에 포함했다.

이번 협력은 사용 가능한 사무집기를 필요한 곳에 다시 활용함으로써 폐기물을 줄이는 동시에 군 장병들이 생활하는 공간의 환경을 개선하는 데 목적이 있다. 국군대전병원을 거점으로 인근 군부대까지 자원순환 활동을 확산할 수 있다는 점도 주목된다.

김원희 포스코와이드 대표는 “자원순환을 통해 군 장병들에게 실질적인 도움이 될 수 있는 협력이라는 점에서 의미가 있다”며 “기업의 사회적 책임과 ESG 가치를 지역사회 곳곳으로 확산할 수 있도록 지속적으로 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 포스코그룹은 2013년 포스코1%나눔재단을 설립한 이후 국가유공자 지원을 비롯해 지역사회와 미래세대를 대상으로 다양한 사회공헌 활동을 이어가고 있다.

Under this agreement, POSCO Wide is expanding the scope of support for its existing office equipment recycling program, "Jayeon-da Itda," to include military-related facilities. Daejeon Armed Forces Hospital will receive the support of recycled goods while simultaneously taking on the role of promoting eco-friendly resource recycling activities to nearby military units.

"Jayeon-da Itda" is a program that delivers reusable office furniture and supplies, previously used during comprehensive real estate management, to social welfare facilities or local communities in need. Operated through the collaboration of POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation and the donation of 1% of POSCO Wide employees' salaries, the initiative has donated thousands of pieces of furniture and equipment since its inception.

Beyond material support, both parties plan to jointly promote campaigns to raise awareness of resource recycling within the military. The areas of cooperation include conducting activities to inform military units about the necessity of resource reuse and carbon reduction, as well as sharing relevant data and providing consulting to enable the systematic management of ESG performance.

The purpose of this collaboration is to reduce waste by reusing usable office equipment where it is needed, while simultaneously improving the living environment for soldiers. It is also noteworthy that resource recycling activities can be expanded to nearby military units, using the Daejeon Military Hospital as a base.
