For the seventh year, Daegu Health College has been operating a career and vocational experience program for students with immigrant backgrounds, helping them plan their futures.
Daegu Health College announced on the 11th that, in collaboration with the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, it operated the "2026 Career and Vocational Experience Program for Students with Immigrant Backgrounds," allowing 52 middle and high school students with immigrant backgrounds in the Daegu region to experience various professional fields.
The program was conducted over a total of eight sessions from July to August 8. All 52 participating students successfully completed the program.
Utilizing the healthcare practice facilities owned by Daegu Health College, students directly experienced various major fields such as emergency medical services, nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, and forensic science. In the nursing experience, students faced situations similar to actual medical sites in a practice room that replicated an emergency room environment, while the forensic science program involved practical training such as fingerprint analysis.
In addition to the healthcare sector, opportunities were also provided to experience various industrial and service professions, including barista, robotics, and K-beauty. Through this, students were able to personally discover the aptitudes and interests that suit them.
There was also a session for sharing career experiences. Valentina, a fourth-year nursing student with an immigrant background, shared her story and emphasized that one's cultural background can actually be a strength in one's career.
The final event included a special lecture on family bonding and healthy relationships, followed by a completion ceremony.
Daegu Health College plans to continue supporting career exploration for students with immigrant backgrounds, centering on the Student Counseling Center and the Career Connection Center. Furthermore, the college plans to expand the scope of participation and continuously operate experiential programs that provide practical assistance in career and job selection.
Kwon Yong-hyun, Director of Student Employment at Daegu Health College, stated, "For the past seven years, we have supported students with immigrant backgrounds so that they can view their cultural backgrounds as strengths and discover diverse career possibilities." He added, "We will continue to expand practical experiential opportunities so that students can discover their own aptitudes and potential and proactively design their futures."
