올해 명장에는 ▲요리 직종 최경호 명장과 ▲제과·제빵 직종 김규철 명장이 최종 이름을 올렸다. 이로써 2013년 제도 시행 이후 대구광역시 명장은 총 57명으로 늘어났다.

대구광역시 명장은 지역 산업현장에서 15년 이상 종사하며 뛰어난 기술력과 사회공헌 등을 입증한 숙련기술인에게 수여되는 칭호다. 올해는 8개 분야 9개 직종에서 17명이 신청해 서류심사, 현장실사, 면접, 최종심사 등 엄정한 절차를 거쳤다.

선정된 명장에게는 명장 증서와 명장패, 배지가 수여되며, 기술 전승과 발전을 지원하기 위해 매월 50만 원씩 5년간 총 3,000만 원의 기술장려금이 지급된다. 아울러 도시철도 2호선 청라언덕역에 위치한 ‘대구 숙련기술명장 명예의 전당’에도 헌액될 예정이다.

추경호 대구시장은 “수십 년간 한길을 걸으며 최고의 기술을 일궈 온 명장들은 지역 산업과 경제를 지탱하는 든든한 버팀목”이라며, “앞으로도 숙련기술인이 존중받고 청년들이 기술을 통해 미래를 설계할 수 있도록 인재 육성과 지원에 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.
