청송군보건의료원은 진료 분야를 민간에 위탁해 전문의 진료를 운영하는 방식으로 지역 의료서비스를 제공하고 있다. 내과와 가정의학과, 정형외과를 비롯해 산부인과와 소아청소년과 등 여러 진료과를 운영하고 있으며, 토요일 진료도 병행하고 있다.

입원실과 응급실을 함께 운영하면서 의료기관 접근성이 낮은 농촌지역 주민들의 진료 공백을 줄이는 데도 주력하고 있다.

청송군에 따르면 2020년 이후 단양군보건의료원과 가평군보건소, 평창군보건의료원, 태안군보건의료원, 하동군보건소 등 여러 지역의 보건의료기관 관계자들이 의료원의 운영 방식과 민간 위탁진료 사례를 살펴보기 위해 청송을 방문했다.

최근에도 벤치마킹이 이어졌다. 지난 13일에는 산청군보건의료원 관계자 6명이 청송군보건의료원을 찾아 민간 위탁 방식의 진료 운영 현황을 살펴봤다.

이날 방문단은 산청군 보건사업과장과 보건행정팀장, 진료팀장, 관련 담당자 등으로 구성됐다. 이들은 청송군보건의료원의 진료 부문 위탁 운영 체계와 의료진 확보 방안, 진료과 구성 등을 청취한 뒤 질의응답을 통해 실제 운영 과정에서 겪은 어려움과 대응 사례, 주요 성과 등을 공유했다.

청송군은 농촌지역의 경우 의료 인력 확보와 안정적인 진료과 운영이 주요 과제로 꼽히는 만큼, 청송군보건의료원의 운영 경험이 다른 지역의 의료서비스 개선 방안을 검토하는 데 참고가 될 것으로 보고 있다.

윤경희 청송군수는 “청송군보건의료원이 축적해 온 운영 경험과 사례를 다른 지역과 지속적으로 공유하겠다”며 “농촌지역 주민들의 의료서비스 환경을 개선하는 데 도움이 될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
