【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자= 경상북도의회가 지역 현안 해결과 실효성 있는 정책 대안 제시를 주도할 ‘제11기 정책연구위원회’를 공식 출범시켰다.

경상북도의회(의장 김희수)는 25일 임시총회를 개최하고 제11기 정책연구위원회의 본격적인 활동에 돌입했다. 이날 회의에서는 위원 위촉을 시작으로 위원장·부위원장 선출, 입법정책 연구용역 심의위원회 위원 선출, 정책연구위원회 운영 방향 등에 대한 논의가 이뤄졌다.

관심을 모은 제11기 정책연구위원장에는 구미 출신 백순창 의원이, 부위원장에는 비례대표 김예영 의원이 만장일치로 선출됐다.

백순창 신임 위원장은 취임 소감을 통해 “경북은 지역마다 산업·농어업·인구·교통 등 다양한 현안을 안고 있어 현장 목소리를 반영한 실질적인 연구가 필수적”이라며 “경북의 미래 비전을 제시해 도민 삶에 실질적 변화를 이끌어내는 ‘정책의 나침반’ 역할을 하겠다”고 강조했다.

제11기 정책연구위원회는 단순 연구에 그치지 않고 실제 도정과 의정활동으로 이어질 수 있도록 현장 중심의 정책 연구와 입법 지원을 한층 강화한다. 이를 위해 입법정책 연구용역 심의, 정책 현장 간담회, 전문가 자문 등을 추진하고 결과를 조례 제·개정에 적극 활용할 방침이다. 또한 의원 자율 연구단체의 활동을 적극 지원해 의정 역량을 한층 끌어올릴 계획이다.

김희수 의장은 “지방의회의 역할이 단순 견제와 감시를 넘어 미래를 설계하고 정책을 제시하는 방향으로 확대되고 있다”며 “제11기 정책연구위원회가 도민이 체감할 수 있는 변화를 만들어내는 든든한 정책 플랫폼이 되어달라”고 당부했다.
