대구시는 대구광역시의사회와 협력해 오는 9월 25일 추석 명절 당일 진료에 참여할 의원을 모집한다고 밝혔다. 경증 환자의 의료 이용 편의를 높이고 명절 기간 응급실로 환자가 집중되는 현상을 완화하기 위한 조치다.

추석을 비롯한 명절 기간에는 상당수 동네의원이 휴진하면서 감기나 독감 등 비교적 가벼운 증상을 가진 환자도 응급실을 이용하는 경우가 발생한다. 이로 인해 응급실 대기시간이 길어지고 환자의 의료비 부담이 커질 수 있다는 게 대구시의 설명이다.

대구시와 대구시의사회는 이러한 문제에 대응하기 위해 2016년부터 ‘명절 비상진료 지원사업’을 운영하고 있다. 특히 명절 당일 동네의원이 진료에 참여하도록 지원해 경증 환자가 가까운 의료기관에서 진료받을 수 있는 환경을 마련해 왔다.

이번 추석 비상진료에 참여하려는 의원은 9월 10일까지 대구광역시의사회 또는 해당 의원 소재지를 관할하는 보건소에 신청하면 된다.

민복기 대구광역시의사회장은 “명절 기간에도 시민들이 필요한 의료서비스를 받을 수 있도록 의료공백을 줄이는 데 지속적으로 협력하겠다”며 “이번 추석에도 회원들의 적극적인 참여를 기대한다”고 말했다.

이재홍 대구시 보건복지국장은 “명절 당일에도 진료에 참여하는 의료진의 역할이 시민들의 의료 이용에 큰 도움이 된다”며 “올해 추석에도 지역 의료기관과 약국의 관심과 참여를 부탁드린다”고 밝혔다.

한편 올해 설 명절 당일에는 동네의원 26곳이 비상진료 사업에 참여했으며, 총 1,683명의 환자가 해당 의료기관을 이용한 것으로 집계됐다.
