포항시는 2일 포항체육관 일원에서 ‘제46회 장애인의 날 기념식 및 장애인 취업·생산품판매 박람회’를 열었다고 밝혔다.

‘당연한 일상, 모두가 누릴 수 있도록’을 주제로 마련된 이번 행사에는 장애인과 가족을 비롯해 장애인단체 및 복지시설 관계자, 자원봉사자 등 약 1,500명이 참석했다. 참석자들은 장애인의 날을 기념하는 한편 장애에 대한 이해를 높이고 상호 소통하는 시간을 가졌다.

행사는 식전공연으로 시작해 유공자 표창, 기념사와 축사, 기념촬영 등의 순서로 진행됐다. 장애인 복지 향상과 권익 증진에 힘쓴 관계자들을 대상으로 표창을 수여하며 그동안의 노력을 격려했다.

이날 행사에서는 ‘2026년 포항시 장애인상’ 시상식도 함께 열렸다.

장애인 부문 수상자로 선정된 박해성 씨는 중증장애를 극복하고 장애인배드민턴 국가대표로 활동하면서 국제대회에서 뛰어난 성적을 거둔 공로를 인정받았다. 장애인봉사 부문에서는 장학사업과 취약계층 후원 등 지역사회를 위한 나눔을 지속해 온 (사)경북시각장애인연합회가 수상자로 이름을 올렸다.

장애인의 경제적 자립을 지원하기 위한 프로그램도 행사와 함께 마련됐다. 현장에는 포스코휴먼스와 한국장애인고용공단 경북지사, 대구장애인근로자지원센터 등이 참여해 구직 장애인을 대상으로 일자리 정보를 제공하고 고용지원제도 등을 안내했다.

지역 장애인 직업재활시설의 생산품을 알리는 전시·판매 행사도 진행됐다. 포항나누우리터, 포항바이오파크, 카리타스보호작업장, 포항장애인재활작업장 등이 참여해 각 시설에서 제작한 제품을 선보이고 판매하면서 장애인 생산품에 대한 시민들의 관심을 높였다.

이와 함께 지역 장애인단체와 복지시설은 기관별 복지사업과 지원서비스를 소개하는 홍보 부스를 운영했다. 시민들은 현장에서 장애인 복지와 관련된 각종 지원제도와 서비스 정보를 직접 확인할 수 있었다.

박용선 포항시장은 행사에 참석한 장애인과 가족, 시민들에게 감사의 뜻을 전하며 장애인의 사회 참여와 자립을 위한 지원을 확대하겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다.

박 시장은 “많은 장애인과 가족, 시민이 한자리에서 서로를 이해하고 소통할 수 있었던 의미 있는 시간이었다”며 “앞으로도 장애인이 지역사회에서 차별 없이 역량을 펼치고 당당한 구성원으로 생활할 수 있도록 일자리와 복지 분야의 지원체계를 더욱 세심하게 살피겠다”고 말했다.

Pohang City organized an event where people with and without disabilities could mingle and reflect on the value of the rights and dignity of people with disabilities.

Pohang City announced that it held the "46th Disability Day Commemorative Ceremony and Disability Employment & Product Sales Fair" at the Pohang Gymnasium on the 2nd.

The event began with a pre-ceremony performance and proceeded with the awarding of commendations to distinguished individuals, commemorative speeches and congratulatory remarks, and a commemorative photo session. The "2026 Pohang City Disability Award" ceremony was also held during the event.

Programs to support the economic independence of people with disabilities were also organized alongside the event. POSCO Human Resources, the Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, and the Daegu Support Center for Disabled Workers participated on-site to provide job information and guidance on employment support systems to job-seeking individuals with disabilities.

An exhibition and sales event was also held to promote products from local vocational rehabilitation facilities for the disabled. Pohang Nanuriter, Pohang Biopark, Caritas Sheltered Workshop, and Pohang Rehabilitation Workshop for the Disabled participated, showcasing and selling products made by their respective facilities, thereby raising public interest in products made by people with disabilities.

In addition, local disability organizations and welfare facilities operated promotional booths to introduce their respective welfare projects and support services. Citizens were able to personally check information on various support systems and services related to disability welfare at the event.

Pohang Mayor Park Yong-sun expressed his gratitude to the disabled individuals, their families, and citizens who attended the event, and announced his intention to expand support for the social participation and independence of the disabled.

Mayor Park stated, "It was a meaningful time where many disabled individuals, their families, and citizens could come together to understand and communicate with one another." He added, "Moving forward, I will carefully oversee the support systems in the fields of employment and welfare so that the disabled can unleash their potential without discrimination in the local community and live as proud members."
