구미시는 지난 2일 서울 영등포구 공군호텔에서 ‘2026 구미시 투자환경 설명회’를 열었다. 이날 행사에는 김장호 구미시장과 강명구 국회의원을 비롯해 출향기업인, 재경출향인, 언론 관계자 등 170여 명이 참석했다.

이번 설명회는 구미의 주요 산업정책과 투자환경을 소개하고 지역의 미래 성장 가능성을 공유하기 위해 마련됐다. 특히 실제 구미에 투자하고 있는 기업의 사례를 통해 잠재 투자자들에게 구체적인 투자 정보를 제공하는 데 초점을 맞췄다.

현장에서는 ㈜에이프로세미콘과 로호드파트너스가 구미 투자 사례를 소개했다.

반도체소자 제조기업인 ㈜에이프로세미콘은 2023년 12월 구미시와 투자양해각서를 체결한 이후 600억 원 규모의 투자를 추진하고 있으며, 신규 인력 20명도 채용할 계획이다.

로호드파트너스는 지난해 12월 구미시와 투자협약을 맺고 총 4조5천억 원을 투입해 300MW급 AI 데이터센터 구축 1단계 사업을 추진하고 있다. 기업 관계자는 이날 구미를 투자처로 선택한 배경과 지역 내 사업 정착 과정 등을 설명했다.

구미시는 이 같은 사례를 통해 기존의 제조업 중심 산업도시를 넘어 반도체와 인공지능(AI), 데이터산업 등 신산업 분야의 기업 투자를 유치하는 도시로 산업구조를 확장하고 있다는 점을 강조했다.

이날 행사에서는 고향 구미를 위한 출향인들의 기부도 이어졌다. 재경출향기업인과 출향인들은 지역 발전을 응원하는 뜻을 담아 약 2천만 원의 고향사랑기부금을 전달했다.

김장호 구미시장은 “구미는 대한민국 산업화를 이끌어온 제조 중심 도시를 넘어 반도체와 AI, 데이터 등 미래산업의 성장거점으로 변화하고 있다”며 “기업이 있는 현장을 직접 찾아 투자 기회를 알리고 기업의 투자 결정부터 안정적인 정착까지 적극 지원하는 세일즈 행정을 강화하겠다”고 말했다.

구미시는 앞으로도 수도권과 출향 기업인 네트워크를 활용해 잠재 투자기업을 지속적으로 발굴하고, 기업별 수요에 맞춘 지원책을 마련해 실제 투자로 연결될 수 있도록 투자유치 활동을 확대할 방침이다.
