【브레이크뉴스 성주】이성현 기자=성주군이 의료기관 접근성이 낮은 농촌지역 주민들의 건강관리를 위해 올해 세 번째 농촌왕진버스를 운영한다.
성주군은 고령 농업인과 의료 취약계층의 진료 편의를 높이고 농촌지역의 의료 공백을 줄이기 위해 ‘2026년 농촌왕진버스 지원사업’을 오는 9월 10일부터 진행한다고 밝혔다.
농촌왕진버스는 의료서비스를 이용하기 어려운 농촌 주민을 직접 찾아가 진료와 건강검진 등을 제공하는 현장형 의료지원 사업이다. 양·한방 진료를 비롯해 치과와 안과 검진 등 주민 수요에 맞춘 다양한 의료서비스를 무료로 제공하는 것이 특징이다.
성주군은 지역 농협과 협력해 사업을 추진하고 있으며, 운영 장소별로 3,600만 원의 사업비를 지원한다.
올해 일정은 9월 10일 벽진면을 시작으로 9월 17일 대가면, 10월 8일 월항면까지 모두 3개 지역에서 순차적으로 진행된다.
성주군은 앞서 2024년 금수강산면·수륜면·가천면에서 농촌왕진버스를 처음 운영한 데 이어 지난해에는 성주읍·선남면·초전면에서 사업을 이어갔다. 그동안 참여 주민들의 호응이 높았던 만큼 올해도 전문 의료기관과 연계해 현장에서 필요한 진료 서비스를 제공한다는 방침이다.
특히 단순한 일회성 진료에 그치지 않고 의료 접근성이 떨어지는 지역 주민들이 필요한 건강관리 서비스를 가까운 곳에서 받을 수 있도록 사업의 실효성을 높이는 데 중점을 둘 예정이다.
전화식 성주군수는 “농촌왕진버스는 의료기관을 찾기 어려운 주민들이 가까운 곳에서 필요한 진료를 받을 수 있도록 돕는 현장 중심의 복지사업”이라며 “앞으로도 의료 취약지역의 건강관리 여건을 개선하고 군민 모두가 건강한 생활을 누릴 수 있도록 의료복지 기반을 지속적으로 확대하겠다”고 말했다.

Seongju County is implementing the project in cooperation with local agricultural cooperatives and is providing 36 million won in funding for each operating location.

He added, "We will continue to expand the foundation of medical welfare to improve health management conditions in medically underserved areas and ensure that all county residents can enjoy a healthy life."
