‘HOP Together, HOPE Forever!’

Yeongcheon Youth and Citizens Gather Together… ‘Youth HOP×HOPE Festival’ Successfully Concludes
Yeongcheon City has set out to revitalize local youth culture by holding a festival commemorating Youth Day where youth and citizens can participate and communicate together.
Yeongcheon City announced that it held the ‘Youth HOP×HOPE Festival,’ the 6th Yeongcheon Youth Day commemorative event, at Yeongcheon Riverside Park on the 5th.
Organized under the slogan ‘HOP Together, HOPE Forever!’, this event was designed as a festival where youth could directly participate, combining ‘HOP,’ signifying the challenge and vitality of youth, with ‘HOPE,’ representing hope for the future. The event proceeded with a focus on participatory programs to ensure that not only youth but also citizens and family visitors could enjoy it together.
The early part of the event featured a ‘Youth Golden Bell’ quiz themed around Yeongcheon and youth policies, followed by a random play dance and a Taekwondo performance. A key feature of the program was its composition to allow participation from diverse generations, ranging from young adults in their 20s to parents visiting the venue with their children.

Along with booths where young sellers personally introduced their products, experiential programs such as caricatures, instant photos, and clown performances were operated. Additionally, a stamp tour was designed to allow visitors to naturally experience the content throughout the venue.
Programs linked with local universities were also showcased. Performances by the Daekyung University dance team and a craft beer and makgeolli tasting event by the university's school enterprise, Daekyung Brewery, were organized to combine youth culture with local university resources.
The commemorative ceremony, held starting at 6 p.m., was attended by Yeongcheon Mayor Kim Byung-sam, National Assembly member Lee Man-hee, Yeongcheon City Council Chairman Ha Gi-tae, Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly members Lee Chun-woo and Yoon Seung-oh, and Daekyung University President Lee Chae-young, who celebrated Youth Day.
The ceremony focused on youth participation. Youth representatives Son Jeong-a and Lee Ju-hyun took an oath on behalf of the youth and delivered messages of support for their dreams and challenges. Park Seong-jun, Head of the Youth Policy Participation Group, was awarded a commendation from the Mayor of Yeongcheon for his contribution to the development of youth policies. Following this, the Youth Golden Bell awards ceremony took place.
In the evening, the ‘HOPE Concert’ was held, continuing the festive atmosphere. Boogie Brown, #Annyeong, Na Sang-hyun’s Band, and Team Siren took the stage in succession to perform, and the audience enjoyed the final moments of the festival with music at Yeongcheon Riverside Park.
Yeongcheon City places significance on the fact that this event moved away from the traditional Youth Day ceremonies and was operated as a participatory and experiential festival where young people could directly participate and naturally mingle with citizens.
Yeongcheon Mayor Kim Byeong-sam stated, “I believe that providing a venue where young people can enjoy themselves to the fullest, meet each other, and gain new energy is a meaningful way to commemorate Youth Day,” adding, “We will strive to reflect the voices of young people in policy and create an environment where they can continue their challenges and growth in Yeongcheon.”
Yeongcheon City plans to continue expanding opportunities for young people to interact within the local community and participate in various activities, while continuously establishing a foundation to support their policy participation and help them settle in the region.
