Universities, local governments, and welfare organizations in the Daegu region have joined forces to provide systematic support for young people living in isolation or seclusion—covering everything from identification and counseling to health management, social reintegration, and self-reliance.
On the 8th, Daegu Health University, Dalseo-gu Office, and Wolseong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center signed a business agreement at "Kkumkkuneun Theater" in Nam-gu, Daegu, aimed at supporting the recovery and self-reliance of educationally vulnerable groups. The agreement focuses on integrating the respective expertise of each institution to provide comprehensive support—ranging from identifying isolated and secluded youth to facilitating psychological and physical recovery, education, counseling, social relationship building, and self-reliance.
Daegu Health University will utilize its personnel in health, medical care, welfare, and counseling to operate various programs, including education, counseling, and health management. The Dalseo-gu Office will handle the identification of eligible individuals and provide administrative support, while the Wolseong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center will conduct personalized case management and programs on-site.
Through this collaboration, the institutions plan to establish a support system that allows isolated and secluded youth to receive necessary services seamlessly in one place.
The signing ceremony was held in conjunction with the "2026 Dalseo-gu Youth Challenge & Healing Concert." Attended by approximately 100 people—including local youth, local government officials, and representatives from related organizations—the event featured various programs, such as an appointment ceremony for a peer support group, a program completion ceremony, and a performance by a youth band.
Nam Sung-hee, President of Daegu Health University, stated, "By joining forces, the local government, welfare center, and university have established a robust 'triangular safety net' for young people." She added, "Leveraging the expertise the university has cultivated, we will actively support these young people in discovering their potential and becoming self-reliant members of society." Building on this agreement, the participating institutions plan to focus on the early identification of and tailored support for isolated and reclusive youth, while continuing to collaborate to help them rebuild social connections within the community and achieve self-reliance.
