중구청에 따르면, 이번 무상점검은 오는 16일 오전 10시부터 오후 4시까지 중구청 주차장에서 진행된다. 점검 대상은 비사업용 승용차, 승합차, 화물차이며, 별도의 사전 신청 없이 현장 방문 접수로 점검 받을 수 있다.

이번 행사에는 대구광역시자동차전문정비사업조합 중구지회 소속 정비원들이 참여한다. 정형우 중구지회장을 비롯해 전문 정비원들이 직접 차량의 주요 부위를 꼼꼼히 점검하고 운전자가 차량 상태를 쉽게 알 수 있도록 안내할 예정이다.

정비원들은 브레이크와 엔진, 배터리 등 주요 장치를 점검하고 엔진오일, 브레이크오일 등 오일류 상태도 확인한다. 또한, 냉각수와 워셔액을 보충하고, 전구와 와이퍼 등 각종 소모품의 상태도 살펴 이상이 있을 경우 교환해 준다. 타이어의 마모 정도와 공기압까지 점검해 안전한 장거리 운행을 돕는다.

점검이 끝난 차량에는 점검표를 작성해 제공하며, 소유자에게는 차량의 주요 점검 결과와 상태를 안내할 방침이다.

중구청 관계자는 “추석 명절을 앞두고 장거리 운전에 나서는 시민들이 출발 전에 차량 상태를 점검해 안전한 귀성길이 되길 바란다”며 “시민들께서 무상점검 서비스를 적극적으로 활용해 차량 고장이나 예기치 못한 사고를 예방하길 바란다”고 전했다.

중구청은 이번 무상점검이 명절 기간 교통사고 예방에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
