【브레이크뉴스 경주】박영재 기자=한국방사성폐기물학회(회장 강문자)는 2022년 춘계 학술발표회를 5월 25일부터 27일까지 사흘간 부산 BEXCO에서 개최한다고 밝혔다.

학술발표회 첫째 날인 25일에는 다양한 주제의 워크숍이 준비되었고 334명이 사전등록하여 높은 관심을 보였다.

특히 ‘고준위방사성폐기물 특별법 어떻게 하나’ 라는 워크숍이 개최되는데 ‘사용후핵연료 소내 저장시설 확장 방안’으로 한수원의 최득기 처장의 주제 발표와 ‘사용후핵연료 처리기술개발 현황 및 추진 방향’으로 원자력(연)의 류재수 부장이 ‘사용후핵연료 처분기술개발 현황 및 추진 방향’으로 원자력(연)의 조동건 단장이 발제하고 국내 최고의 전문가들이 토론에 참여하게 된다.

이번 발표회에서는 고준위폐기물 처분 및 제염해체 등7개 연구분과에서 334편의 논문발표가 신청되었고 540명이 사전등록하여 코로나 팬데믹 이후에 개최되는 대면 행사로 성황을 이룰 것으로 예상된다.

특히 일본, 미국, 캐나다, 파키스탄, 말레이시아, 중국 7개국에서 총 11명의 해외 전문가들이 초청발표를 진행하여 다양한 국가의 방사성폐기물 분야의 기술정보를 들을 수 있는 자리이다.

둘째날인 26일의 개회식에서는 원자력계 대표 전문가 2인을 초청하여 기조강연이 진행되는데 원자력진흥위원회 황주호 위원이 ‘사용후핵연료 2050’이라는 주제로 강연을 하며 울산과학기술원 민병주 교수가 ‘고준위방사성폐기물 관련 법제화 현황 및 제언’을 주제로 강연을 진행한다.

강문자 회장은 ‘고준위방사성폐기물 특별법은 시급하게 제정되어야 하며 이번 춘계 학술발표회에서의 전문가들의 논의와 토론 결과가 정부 정책에 대한 제언이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다’라고 밝혔다
