【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=김학홍 경북도 행정부지사는 28일 오전 대구문화예술회관에서 개최된 제63회 2.28민주운동 기념식에 참석해 2.28민주운동 정신을 이어 나가겠다고 밝혔다.
경북도에 따르면 김학홍 행정부지사는 이날 기념식 참석에 앞서 배한철 경북도의회 의장, 임종식 경상북도교육감을 비롯해 한덕수 국무총리, 홍준표 대구광역시장, 강기정 광주시장 등 주요 내빈과 함께 2.28민주운동 기념탑을 먼저 참배한 후 기념식장인 대구문화예술회관으로 이동했다.
이날 기념식은 ‘자유를 그리다’라는 주제로 국민의례, 여는 영상, 기념공연, 한덕수 국무총리 기념사, 2.28찬가 제창의 순으로 진행됐다.
김학홍 경북도 행정부지사는 “민주주의는 시대를 넘어 반드시 지켜져야 할 최고의 가치며, 우리 모두는 이 가치를 지키기 위해 헌신한 분들에 대해 감사하며 예우를 다 할 의무가 있다”라며, “경북도에서도 60년 전 정의와 자유를 갈망했던 청소년들의 도전과 나라사랑 정신을 계승해 그 정신을 선양하는데 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 2․28민주운동은 1960년 자유당 정권이 학생들의 야당 유세장 참석을 막기 위해 대구의 8개 학교를 대상으로 내린 일요일 등교 지시에 학생 1,700여명이 자발적으로 일으킨 광복 이후 최초의 민주적 저항운동으로 4.19혁명의 도화선이자 10대 학생들이 주도한 한국 민주화 운동의 효시다.
2016년부터‘대구-경북 상생협력 과제’로 국가기념일 지정을 추진했고 그 해 100만 서명운동을 전개하는 등 함께 노력한 결과, 2018년 1월 30일 국무회의 의결을 거쳐 2018년 2월 6일 국가기념일로 제정 공포됐다.
