박승호 포항시장 예비후보는 같은 날 포항·경주공항 국제선 취항 추진을 핵심으로 하는 ‘환동해 하늘길 개척’ 공약을 제시했다.

박 예비후보는 “포항은 포스코를 비롯한 세계적 산업역량을 갖춘 도시인 만큼 시민 이동 편의와 기업 활동, 관광 활성화를 뒷받침할 국제 교류 기반이 필요하다”며 “포항·경주공항 국제선 취항은 포항 경제의 외연을 넓히는 실질적 전략이 되어야 한다”고 밝혔다.

안승대 포항시장 예비후보(전 울산광역시 행정부시장)는 같은 날 자전거를 활용한 현장 민생 유세를 시작하며 시민 소통 행보에 나섰다.

안 예비후보는 송도와 오거리, 죽도시장, 육거리, 영일대 해수욕장 일대를 자전거로 순회하며 시민과 상인들을 직접 만나 지역 경제 상황과 생활 불편 사항을 청취했다. 특히 죽도시장을 찾아 경기 침체로 어려움을 겪는 상인들의 목소리를 듣는 등 현장 민심을 살폈다.

안 예비후보는 “민심이 곧 천심이라는 마음으로 시민들의 삶이 있는 곳이라면 좁은 골목길이라도 직접 찾아가겠다”며 “포항 경제를 살리고 시민 삶을 바꾸기 위해서는 책상 위 정책이 아니라 현장에서 답을 찾아야 한다”고 말했다.
