안동시선거관리위원회는 최근 북후중학교 학생들을 대상으로 ‘민주주의 선거교실’ 연수를 실시했다고 30일 밝혔다.

‘민주주의 선거교실’은 아직 공직선거에 직접적으로 참여해보지 못한 중학생들에게 선거와 정치참여의 중요성을 일깨워주기 위해 실시한 이번 연수는 실습과 참여 위주의여러 가지 프로그램으로 실시됐다.

특히 ‘선거관리위원회! 무슨 일을 할까요?’, ‘유권자의 마음을 잡아라(보트게임)’를 통해 스스로 정책과 공약을 만들고 게임을 해보는 등 선거에 대해 한 층 더 성숙한 시각을 갖출 수 있는 시간을 보냈다.

또한, 연수대상 학생들을 대상으로 실제 공직선거에 사용되는 기표용구와 투표용지를 사용하여 투표체험을 실시해봄으로써 미래유권자들이 직접 투표를 체험해보는 계기가 됐다.

안동시선거관리위원회 관계자는 “이번 연수가 훗날 학생들이 유권자가 되었을 때 올바르게 한 표를 행사하는데 도움이 되었으면 한다.”고 하며 “민주주의 선거교실 연수 외에도 관내 학교의 학생회장선거 투․개표를 지원하는 등 지속적으로 선거서비스를 제공하겠다.“고 밝혔다.
