【브레이크뉴스 안동】이성현 기자=안동시선거관리위원회는 특정 정당의 입당원서를 수집·전달해 당원 모집에 가담한 혐의로 안동시청 소속 간부 공무원 2명(A씨·B씨)을 9일 경상북도경찰청에 고발했다고 밝혔다.
선관위에 따르면 A씨는 지난해 12월 중순 지역 장애인단체 대표가 수집한 정당 입당원서 12매를 C씨에게 전달한 혐의를 받고 있다. 또 B씨는 지난해 7월경 지역 통장을 통해 입당원서 4매를 수집해 C씨에게 전달되도록 한 혐의가 있는 것으로 조사됐다.
선관위 관계자는 “공무원의 선거 관여 행위는 선거 결과에 중대한 영향을 미칠 수 있는 중대한 위법 행위”라며 “혐의가 포착될 경우 가용 자원과 과학적 조사기법을 총동원해 관련자 전원을 엄중 조치할 방침”이라고 밝혔다.
현행 '공직선거법' 제85조에 따르면 공무원은 직무와 관련하거나 지위를 이용해 선거에 부당한 영향력을 행사하는 등 선거에 영향을 미치는 행위를 할 수 없으며, 이를 위반할 경우 같은 법 제255조에 따라 5년 이하의 징역 또는 2천만 원 이하의 벌금에 처해질 수 있다.
또한 '지방공무원법' 제57조는 공무원의 정치운동을 금지하고 있으며, 타인에게 정당이나 정치단체 가입을 권유하거나 가입하지 않도록 하는 행위 역시 금지 대상이다. 이를 위반할 경우 같은 법 제82조에 따라 3년 이하의 징역 또는 3년 이하의 자격정지에 처해질 수 있다.
안동시선관위는 향후 수사 결과를 지켜보며 추가 위법 사항이 확인될 경우 관련 법령에 따라 엄정 대응할 방침이다.
