이 예비후보는 지난 10일 오후 영천시와 고령군을 차례로 찾아 지역별 핵심 공약을 발표했다. 먼저 영천을 방문한 이 후보는 “철도망 확충과 산업단지 조성, 군사규제 해제를 결합한 ‘영천 대전환 프로젝트’를 시행하겠다”며 7대 공약을 공표했다.

영천 공약의 핵심은 교통망 혁신과 산업 구조 전환이다. 대구도시철도 1호선 연장 및 영천역 복합환승센터 구축을 통해 대구와 단일 생활권을 형성하고, 제2탄약창 이전 부지에 미래형 친환경 국가산단을 조성하겠다는 구상이다. 또한 기존 자동차 부품 산업을 미래 모빌리티와 AI 융합 산업으로 고도화하겠다는 계획도 포함됐다.

이어 고령군을 찾은 이 후보는 고령을 대가야의 정체성을 살린 ‘역사문화 수도’이자 ‘남부권 신성장 도시’로 만들겠다는 5대 공약을 발표했다.

그는 ‘대가야 르네상스’를 기치로 ▲국립 대가야박물관 건립 및 역사도시 격상 ▲달빛내륙철도 고령역 신설 및 복합환승센터 구축 ▲낙동강 스마트 생태 신도시 및 수변 관광거점 조성 ▲딸기·참외 스마트팜 단지 확대 ▲다산지구 산업·주거 복합단지 조성 등을 약속했다.

이 후보는 “고령은 독보적인 역사 자산과 대구 인접이라는 입지적 강점을 모두 갖춘 곳”이라며 “역사와 산업이 공존하는 완전히 새로운 성장 구조를 만들겠다”고 강조했다.

현장 행보 이틀째인 11일에는 원희룡 전 국토교통부 장관이 포항 이 예비후보의 경선사무소를 방문해 전격 지원 사격에 나섰다.

원 전 장관은 이 후보와의 국회 시절 인연을 강조하며 “보수의 심장인 경북에서 진정한 가치를 되살리고, 이번 지방선거를 승리로 이끄는 중심 역할을 해달라”고 격려했다. 이에 이 후보는 “보수의 최후 보루인 낙동강 전선을 흔들림 없이 지켜내겠다”고 화답하며 지지층 결집에 박차를 가했다.

포항 일정을 마친 이 후보는 곧바로 경주 당원협의회를 방문해 당원들과 소통하는 등 도내 전역을 아우르는 ‘광폭 행보’를 지속하고 있다.
