특히 최 후보는 이 지사가 호언장담해 온 ‘20조 원 재정 지원’을 정조준했다. 그는 “국회에 제출된 법안 그 어디에도 구체적인 금액은 명시되지 않았다”며 “법적 근거도 없이 이재명 정부가 던져줄지 말지도 모르는 환상을 앞세워 도민을 현혹한 것은 파렴치한 행위”라고 비판의 수위를 높였다.

지역 내 갈등 문제도 강하게 파고들었다. 최 후보는 “바이오백신 클러스터 특례 삭제, 북부권 의과대학 설치 실종 등 경북 북부권의 생존권이 통합안에서 철저히 외면당했다”며 “3조 원 규모의 무늬만 화려한 프로젝트로 도민의 눈을 가리려 하지 마라”고 경고했다.

그는 이번 통합 시도를 이 지사의 ‘정치생명 연장’을 위한 수단으로 규정하며, “본인의 통합단체장 욕심이 빚은 참사가 아닌지 되묻고 싶다”고 날을 세웠다.
