경상북도가 이번 사태를 엄중하게 바라보는 이유는 지역 특유의 산업 구조 때문이다. 경북의 제조업 비중은 약 41%로 전국 평균(28%)을 크게 상회한다. 에너지 수입 의존도가 높은 제조업 특성상, 전 세계 원유 수송량의 20%가 지나는 호르무즈 해협의 불안은 도내 기업들에 직접적인 타격이 될 수밖에 없다.

경상북도는 상황 악화 시 비상경제대책회의를 상시 개최로 전환하고, 중소기업 자금 지원 및 민생 안정 특별 대책 등 가용 가능한 모든 행정·경제적 수단을 즉각 동원할 계획이다.
