【브레이크뉴스  경북】이성현 기자=이철우 경상북도지사가 정부의 핵심 지역 발전 정책인 ‘5극 3특 성장엔진’의 성공을 위해 중앙 정부의 파격적인 권한 이양과 재정 지원을 강력히 요청했다.

이 지사는 5일 열린 산업통상자원부 주관 대경권 지역 현안 간담회에서 “지방이 살아야 나라가 산다”고 역설하며, 대구·경북 행정 통합 추진을 뒷받침할 제도적 담보를 건의했다. 이번 간담회는 김정관 산업부 장관, 이철우 지사, 김정기 대구시장 권한대행이 참석해 지역 산업의 자생력 강화 방안을 논의하기 위해 마련됐다.

경상북도는 이날 간담회에서 지역 경제의 핵심 동력이 될 3대 분야에 대한 구체적인 지원 방안을 건의했다.

첫째로 첨단 반도체 소재·부품 Complex 구축에 대하여는 구미를 거점으로 반도체 소재·부품 제조 및 실증 인프라를 구축하고, 포항 나노융합기술원을 남부권 반도체 혁신 벨트에 포함해 줄 것을 요청했다. 또,미래형 배터리 밸류체인 고도화와 관련, 전고체 전지 양산 기술 개발과 상용화 지원센터 구축, 차세대 소듐(Sodium) 전지 기반 ESS 상용화 등 미래 배터리 시장 선점을 위한 국비 지원을 건의했다.  경북도는 또 에너지 비용 급등으로 어려움을 겪는 철강사를 위해 ‘철강 전용 전기요금제’ 도입과 포항의 ‘저탄소 철강 특구’ 우선 지정 등을 건의했다.

Establishment of an Advanced Semiconductor Materials and Components Complex: The province requested the establishment of a semiconductor materials and components manufacturing and demonstration infrastructure based in Gumi and the inclusion of the Pohang Nano Convergence Technology Institute in the Southern Semiconductor Innovation Belt.

Advancing the Future Battery Value Chain: Government funding was proposed to secure a leading position in the future battery market, including the development of mass production technology for all-solid-state batteries, the establishment of a commercialization support center, and the commercialization of next-generation sodium battery-based ESS.

Re-emergence of the Steel Industry (K-Steel Act): To support steelmakers struggling with soaring energy costs, the proposal included the introduction of a "steel-only electricity rate system" and the priority designation of Pohang as a "low-carbon steel special zone."
