22일 경주엑스포공원에 따르면 매화는 겨울의 끝자락과 봄을 이어준다. 일찌감치 경주엑스포대공원 ‘계림지(경주타워 앞 동궁과 월지 모양 연못)’주변에 팝콘처럼 팡팡 터진 흰 매화꽃은 경주타워와 어우러져 멋진 장면을 연출하고 있다.

산수유는 봄을 알리는 대표적 나무다. 개나리·진달래·벚나무·철쭉보다 훨씬 일찍 꽃을 피우는 ‘봄의 전령사(傳令使)’로 통한다. 루미나이트 입구 앞 쪽에 군락을 이뤄 활짝 핀 노란 산수유 꽃은 봄을 기다리는 관람객들의 마음을 설레게 한다.

대구에서 아이들과 함께 온 최민정(38)씨는 “겨울을 깨우는 첫 색은 아마 노랑이 아닐까 싶다”며 “산수유 노란 꽃물결을 보니 그간 코로나로 답답했던 마음이 뻥 뚫리는 것 같다”고 말했다.
