김 군수에 적용된 혐의는 6.1 지방선거 국민의힘 당내 경선 과정에서 조직적 금품 살포와 경선 여론조사 조작 관여로 알려졌다.
경찰은 이날 지난 5월 국민의힘 영덕군수 당내 경선 과정에서 부인 등과 함께 금품을 사용해 표를 매수한 정황에 대해 집중 따져 물었다. 또 경선 여론조사에서도 자신에게 유리한 결과를 만들기 위해 관여했는지에 대해서도 장시간 조사했다.
