【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자= 포스코인재창조원은 환경운동 NGO인 '지구시민연합'과 함께 오는 4월 22일 지구의 날을 기념해 지난 15일 포항 형산강 상생인도교 인근 수변공원근에서 'EM 흙공 던지기와 환경정화활동'을 펼쳤다고 17일 밝혔다.

EM흙공(Effective Micro-organisms)은 하천바닥에 퇴적된 오염물질 제거를 통한 수질개선 목적으로 사용되며, 효모, 유산균, 누룩균, 광합성 세균, 방선균 등 80여 종의 미생물이 들어 있어 수질 정화, 음식물 쓰레기 발효, 악취 제거, 부패 억제까지 탁월한 기능이 있다.

포스코인재창조원 직원들은 EM 흙공던지기 행사 후에는 형산강 수변공원 주변 산책로와 강 주변의 환경정화활동을 펼치는 등 형산강 살리기 운동에 적극 동참하였다.

정태진 혁신기술교육센터장은 “포항의 젖줄인 형산강 살리기에 참여하게 되어 뿌듯하고, 앞으로도 직원들과 함께 꾸준한 ESG 활동을 통해 깨끗하고 건강한 포항시 만들기에 적극 동참하겠다."라고 말했다.

포스코인재창조원에서는 향후에도 포항시 인근의 환경을 지키는 ESG 활동을 꾸준히 실시할 예정이다.

Jeong Tae-jin, director of the Innovation Technology Education Center, said, “I am proud to be involved in reviving the Hyeongsan River, which is the lifeline of Pohang, and I will continue to actively participate in creating a clean and healthy Pohang city through steady ESG activities with employees.”
