15일 경북도에 따르면 지난 10일 상주 화령중학교 교사 시절 제자였던 임이자 국회의원이 이 지사를 찾아 감사의 뜻으로 꽃바구니를 전달하고 환담을 나눴다.
임이자 의원은 국회의원 당선 때부터 한 해도 빠지지 않고 이철우 지사를 찾아 감사의 인사를 전하고 있다.
또 지난 14일에는 의성 신평중학교 7기 동기회 제자들이 도청을 찾아 이 지사 내외에게 감사 인사와 함께 준비한 카네이션을 가슴에 달아주고 이 지사의 교사 시절 함께 찍은 사진을 서로 감상하며 옛 추억을 떠올리기도 했다.
이철우 경북도지사는 “훌륭한 지역 일꾼들이 돼 준 것도 감사한 일인데, 매년 이렇게 잊지 않고 스승을 찾아줘 고맙다”며 “이제 스승은 도지사로서 경북의 힘으로 새로운 대한민국을 열고, 지방시대를 주도하겠다는 목표를 잡았다. 제자들도 각자의 자리에서 스승이 소임을 다할 수 있도록 온 힘을 보태달라”고 당부했다.
한편, 이철우 도지사는 1978년 상주 화령중고등학교, 1980년부터 1985년까지 의성 신평중학교과 단밀중학교에서 교사로 근무한 바 있다.
