15일 영천시(시장 최기문)에 따르면 지난 12일 경상북도 축제심의위원회는 도내 14개 시·군의 대표 축제를 평가하고 ‘영천보현산별빛축제’를 우수축제로 선정했다.

이번 선정으로 영천보현산별빛축제는 2025년까지 연 5,500만원의 지원금(2년간 총 1억 1000만원)을 받는다.

영천보현산별빛축제는 매년 별보기 가장 좋은 10월에 보현산천문과학관 일대에서 개최되며, 밤하늘의 빛나는 별을 주제로 자연환경을 활용한 이색적이고 다양한 즐길 거리와 볼거리로 매력적인 ‘별의도시 영천’을 알리는데 앞장서고 있다.

지난해 ‘화성에서 온 별빛, 영천으로 온 당신’이라는 슬로건으로 추진됐던 별빛축제는 7만여 명의 인원이 현장을 방문했으며 온라인으로도 52만여 명이 별빛축제를 즐겼다.

최기문 영천시장은 “경상북도 우수축제로 선정된 만큼 경북을 대표하는 완성도 높은 축제가 될 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”라며 “올해 축제도 내실 있는 콘텐츠와 지역주민과 영천을 방문하는 관광객이 함께 만들어가고 참여하는 축제가 되도록 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 전했다.
