13일 울진군(군수 손병복)에 따르면 이번 축제는 울진대게와 붉은 대게를 비롯한 후포항의 다양한 수산물과 청정 울진의 농산물 등의 풍부한 먹거리와 동해의 낭만과 즐거움을 누릴 수 있는 다채로운 프로그램을 준비했다.

임금 수라상에 올랐다는 대게는 찬 바람이 불어야 속이 찬다. 11월부터 이듬해 5월까지 제철이지만 살이 통통하게 오른 대게는 2월부터 맛볼 수 있다.

울진은 대게 생산량 1위의 대게 원조 마을로 동국여지승람과 대동지지는 고려시대부터 대게가 울진의 특산물로 자리 잡았다고 전하고 있으며, 조선 선조 때 영의정을 지낸 이산해(1539~1609)도 이곳으로 귀양 왔다가 대게가 많다고 해서 '해포(蟹浦)'라는 이름을 지어줬다고 한다.

특히 울진대게는 7년 연속 대한민국 국가브랜드 대상을 받는 등 품질을 인정받으며 명품 대게로 자리매김 하고 있다.

또한 ‘어부와 함께하는 KIT 만들기’,‘울진 마니아 가요제’, ‘대게 플래시몹’ 등 참여프로그램을 확대하여 모두가 함께 즐길 수 있는 축제로 진행할 예정이다.

더불어‘무료요트 승선 체험’, 울릉 썬플라워 크루즈 투어’ 등을 통해 동해의 낭만을 색다르게 느낄 수 있는 기회도 마련할 계획이다.
