브레이크뉴스 임국정 기자 = 여당인 국민의힘이 24일 헌법재판소가 한덕수 국무총리에 대한 탄핵을 기각하자 "민주당의 탄핵 중독에 경종을 울리고, 헌정 질서를 바로세운 역사적 결정"이라고 밝혔다.

신동욱 국민의힘 수석대변인은 이날 헌재 판결 직후 논평을 통해 이같이 전하며 "대한민국 헌정 질서와 사법 정의가 원칙 위에 서 있음을 증명한 역사적 결정"이라고 강조했다.

그는 "작년 12월 27일, 야당은 '비상계엄 선포 방조', '헌재 재판관 임명 거부'라는 터무니없는 이유로 탄핵소추안을 밀어붙였다"라며 "입법부의 권한을 도구 삼아 국정을 흔들려는 이 무리한 시도는, 87일 만에 헌재의 단호한 기각 결정으로 종지부를 찍었다"라고 평가했다.

신 수석대변인은 "정치적 목적을 위해 국정을 공백 상태로 몰아넣은 민주당의 책임은 매우 무겁다"라고도 주장했다.

그는 "국정의 중심을 책임지는 국무총리를 탄핵하려 한 시도는, 입법권을 무기 삼아 국정을 흔드는 치욕적인 선례로 기록될 것"이라며 "헌재의 기각 결정은 헌정 질서를 흔드는 무책임한 정치에 대해 단호히 일침을 가한 것"이라고 했다.

이어 "민주당은 무소불위의 의석 수를 무기로 무책임한 탄핵 정국을 주도한 것에 대해 뼈저리게 반성하고 국민 앞에 사과하라"라며 "이제라도 정쟁과 극단적 대립이 아닌, 민생과 국익을 위한 책임 정치에 복귀할 것을 강력히 촉구한다"라고 덧붙였다.

아울러 "이제 중요한 것은 국정 정상화와 혼란의 수습"이라며 "한 총리가 즉각 업무에 복귀해, 그동안 정체됐던 국정의 동력을 회복해야 한다"라고 밝혔다.
