【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항산업과학연구원(이하 RIST, 원장 남수희)은 13일 개막을 시작으로 17일까지 RIST 본원에서 발달장애인들의 만다라 작품 전시회를 진행한다고 밝혔다.

이번 전시회는 멘토장애인평생교육원과 RIST가 공동으로 진행하고 있으며, 청년발달장애인 작가 12명의 만다라 작품 56점을 전시하고 있다. 

감수성이 예민하고 섬세한 20대 작가를 위해서 아기자기한 소품을 함께 구성하여 작품과 함께 작가를 이해할 수 있는 공간으로 구성하였고, 이러한 작가의 특징을 소개하는 글도 준비하여 작품과 작가를 함께 볼 수 있는 공간으로 구성했다. 

또한 부대 프로그램으로 작품을 준비하는 과정을 담은 영상과 사진을 준비하여 보는 재미도 제공하고 있다.

이번 전시회에서 발달장애인들은 만다라를 통해 자신의 감정을 표현하고 있다.

밑바탕이 그려져 있는 만다라 도안 위에 좋아하는 색을 고르고, 연하게 혹은 진하게  색칠하는 과정 속에 마음 속의 잡념도 떨쳐 버릴 수 있었고 몰입하게 되었다고 한다. 조금은 어설프게 보일 수 있는 작품이지만, 그 속에는 그들의 삶과 일상 속 마음이 가득 담겨 있다.  

한편, RIST 직원들은 급여의 최대 1%를 포스코1%나눔재단에 기부하고 있다. 이렇게 모인 기부금을 이용하여 지역아동센터 LED 교체 사업, 포항시 취약 계층 학생들을 위한 학습 키트 제공 그리고 청년발달장애인을 위한 다양한 지원 사업 등을 추진하고 있다.

특히 RIST에서는 2018년부터 매년 청년발달장애인들을 대상으로 직업훈련을 통한 경제적 자립 및 사회활동 참여를 지원하고 있으며, 금년에는 만다라 작품을 교육지원, 이를 연계한 작품 전시회를 준비하게 되었다.

In particular, RIST has been supporting economic independence and participation in social activities through job training for young people with developmental disabilities every year since 2018.
