【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항산업과학연구원(이하 RIST, 원장 남수희)은 지난 23일 연구원 대회의실에서 포항지역아동센터 초등학생들을 대상으로 과학 키트를 이용해 직접 만들고 관찰할 수 있는 체험형 과학프로그램을 진행했다고 24일 밝혔다.
이 프로그램은 RIST, 한국퓨얼셀 그리고 포스코인재창조원이 공동으로 지난 10월부터 진행한 주니어 인공지능 온라인 캠프에 참여한 포항지역 학생들을 대상으로 했으며, RIST 홍보관 Insight Gallery에서 평소 접하기 어려운 전문적인 과학기술을 터치스크린, 동작 인식, 프로젝터 영상과 패널차트, AR 영상과 화이트 모형 등을 통해 경험해 보고, 특히 홍보관 포토 키오스크에서 멋진 포즈로 사진을 찍기도 했다.
메인 프로그램은 학생들에게 광학현미경을 제공하고 작동 방법과 원리에 대해 설명한 후, 미리 준비해 둔 프레파라트를 통해 양파 표피, 설탕 입자 등을 관찰하였고, 이를 연계하여 RIST가 보유하고 있는 첨단 현미경실에서 최신 현미경을 통해 1000배이상으로 확대된 다양한 표본을 모니터로 바로 보는 이색적인 경험도 체험했다.
또한 도체인 구리테이프를 이용하여 LED와 코인 전지를 이용한 빛나는 액자 카드도 만들었다.
이 프로그램은 연구기관을 직접 방문하여 과학자를 직접 만나보고 첨단 과학기술을 즐기는 현장 체험형 프로그램으로 학생들에게 과학에 대한 관심을 높이기 위해 구성했다.
