【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 대구시장 후보자 면접이 10일 서울 여의도 중앙당사에서 열렸다. 

국민의힘은 5일부터 8일까지 AI·데이터 기반 온라인 시스템으로 후보자 접수를 완료했고, 이날부터 본격적인 면접 심사에 들어갔다.

면접은 3인 1조로 진행됐으며, 자기소개에 이어 취임 후 100일 동안 지역 변화를 위해 추진할 정책을 3분간 발표하는 정책PT와 질의응답 순으로 이어졌다.

추경호 의원은 이날 면접에서 ‘위대한 대구’라는 비전을 제시하며 경제 구조 개혁에 대한 포부를 밝혔다. 과거 경제기획원과 기획재정부에서 국가 재정 및 예산 편성 경험을 강조한 그는 “이 경험을 살려 대구 발전에 꼭 필요한 예산을 반드시 확보하겠다”고 말했다.

이어 “시장에 당선되는 즉시 ‘대구경제 대개조 추진단’을 조직해 근본적인 경제 구조 혁신에 나서고, 취임 즉시 추가경정예산 편성도 준비할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

특히 “35년 넘게 경제 관료로 일하며 경제부총리, 국무조정실장, 3선 국회의원과 원내대표를 지낸 만큼, 경제 전문성과 행정·정치 경험을 모두 살려 대구 경제를 살리겠다”며 강한 의지를 드러냈다.

같은 날 면접에 나선 최은석 의원은 ‘803 대구 마스터플랜’을 내세워 산업 구조 혁신 방안을 제안했다. 

그는 “산업 경쟁력 강화로 연평균 3% 이상 성장 기반을 마련하고, 매년 30개 이상의 스타기업을 발굴해 유니콘 기업으로 성장시키는 산업 생태계를 구축하겠다”고 밝혔다. 

또한 “시장에 당선되면 ‘803 경제혁신 추진단’을 출범시켜 산업 혁신과 정주 환경 개선을 함께 추진하겠다”고 덧붙였다.

두 후보 모두 이번 면접에서 대구 경제의 구조적 한계를 극복하고 지속 가능한 성장 기반을 마련하겠다는 구상을 강조하는 등 치열한 정책 경쟁을 벌였다.

He expressed his strong commitment, saying, "Having served as an economic official for over 35 years, including as Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, and as a three-term National Assembly member and floor leader, I will leverage both my economic expertise and my administrative and political experience to revitalize the Daegu economy."

Representative Choi Eun-seok, who also appeared in the interview that day, proposed a plan for industrial structural innovation, highlighting the "803 Daegu Master Plan."

He stated, "By strengthening industrial competitiveness, we will establish a foundation for annual growth of over 3%, and build an industrial ecosystem that will discover and nurture over 30 start-up companies into unicorns each year."

He also added, "If elected mayor, I will launch the '803 Economic Innovation Promotion Team' to jointly pursue industrial innovation and improve the residential environment."

Both candidates engaged in a fierce policy battle during the interview, emphasizing their visions for overcoming the structural limitations of the Daegu economy and establishing a foundation for sustainable growth.
