겨울철의 군위군과 의성군은 다른 지역과 달리 영하 10도 이하의 매서운 추위가 연일 이어지고 상수도 계량기가 얼어서 망가지곤 한다.

강추위에 축대 옹벽 등에  수분이 얼면서 부풀어 올랐다가 따뜻해지면 균열과 함께 무게를 이기지 못하고 무너지는 해빙기 붕괴사고와 장마철에 비에 젖은 흙의 무게를 이기지 못하는 발생하는 붕괴사고, 토목공사 현장에서 안전을 소홀히 하여 발생하는 어처구니없은 사고도 발생한다.

최근 광주광역시의 어느 아파트 건설 현장에서는 콘크리트 양생이 덜 된 상태에서 무리하게 공기 단축하다가 붕괴되어 많은 사람이 희생되는 사건도 있었다.

소방청 통계를 살펴보면 2021년에는 해빙기와 장마철에 붕괴사고가 총 381건이 발생하여 128명을 구조하였다.

이에 의성소방서 의흥119안전센터에서는 매년 해빙기와 장마철에 붕괴 위험이 있는 장소의 점검을 통하여 사고를 예방하고 있다.

주변의 옹벽과 축대는 지반침하로 틈새가 벌어지고 기울어져 있는지 살펴보고 절개지 암반 등에서 토사와 암석이 흘러내릴 위험은 없는지, 낙석방지망은 잘 관리되고 있는지,오래되고 부실한 건축물 또한 유심히 살펴보아야 할 것이다.

우리 모두 안전의식을 생활하여 주변을 관심 있게 살펴보아서 특이한 점이 발견하면 119와 또는 관공서 즉시 신고하여 사고를 막아야겠다.
