8일 경상북도에 따르면 경북의용소방대 연합회(회장 고재흠․김미량)와 시군 의용소방대원 3000여 명은 지난 7일과 8일 이틀간 피해 복구반을 나눠 이번 태풍으로 큰 피해가 발생한 지역을 찾아 침수된 건물의 가재도구 세척, 오염된 장판·벽지 제거 등 피해 복구 활동을 펼쳤다.

특히, 폭우로 제방과 도로가 유실된 포항시 일부 지역에는 마을로 휩쓸려온 토사 제거와 주민들의 통행 확보를 위해 도로 세척 활동에 인력을 집중했다.

의소대는 이후에도 포항 구룡포, 경주 등 다른 피해지역에 대해서도 지속해서 인력을 투입해 복구가 완료될 때까지 지원 활동을 펼칠 계획이다.

이철우 경북도지사는“어려운 시기인 만큼 모두가 한마음 한뜻으로 복구 활동에 힘써 피해 지역 주민들이 빠른 시일 내 다시 일상으로 돌아갈 수 있도록 최선을 다하고 도민의 생명과 재산보호를 위해 노력하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
