【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항산업과학연구원(이하 RIST, 원장 남수희)은 지난 1일 2층 대회의실에서 2022년 RIST 리튬이온배터리(이하 LIB) 리사이클링 기술 포럼을 개최했다고 5일 밝혔다.
이번 포럼은 LIB 리사이클링 연계 이차전지 소재 공정 기술개발 포럼으로써 이수찬 산업소재연구그룹장의 RIST 소개와 더불어 RIST 산업소재연구그룹 박진균 수석연구원은 양극재용 고순도 니켈 제조 공정 기술개발 현황을, 이고기 수석연구원은 LIB 건/습식 재활용 공정 기술개발 현황에 대해 공유했다.
또한 포스코HY클린메탈 박주황 차장, 포스코필바라리튬솔루션 손홍록 부장, LG화학 강진구 책임연구원, 대진대학교 안재우 교수, 그리고 연세대학교 손일 교수 등 총 7명의 연사가 참여해 LIB 리사이클링 연계 자원 순환을 위한 이차전지 소재를 활용한 공정 기술개발에 관한 논의를 진행했다.
특히, 이번 기술 포럼에서 발표한 7명의 연사들은 공통적으로 정부 지원 연계성이 낮은 리사이클링 분야의 인력 양성을 위해 산업계의 지속적인 관심과 지원이 절실함을 이야기했으며, 원료 다변화에 따른 정제 공정의 개별화 또는 통합화 등의 개선 방안에 대해서도 토의하는 시간을 가졌다.
이번 포럼을 주최한 재료공정연구소 홍문희 소장은 “RIST와 기업 그리고 대학의 다양한 전문가들이 한 자리에 모여 이차전지 소재 원료인 리튬 및 니켈로부터 배터리 재활용까지 폭넓은 스펙트럼의 강연 내용을 공유할 수 있었다. 특히 리사이클링 사업의 글로벌화가 가속화 되고 있기에 국내 기업간의 연대와 협업이 보다 중요한 시점이고 이번 포럼과 같이 산업계, 학계 그리고 연구계 전문가들이 한 자리에 모이는 이번 기술 교류가 더욱 의미가 있다고” 말했다.
